Yvonne was stunned. Why would he suddenly ask such a thing out of nowhere? How was she supposed to reply to such a private and ambiguous question?
Yvonne bit her lips. She wanted to look at him, but at the same time, she was embarrassed.
Zachary looked into her eyes and saw that she was avoiding his gaze. A faint smile appeared on his lips.
Coincidentally, Yvonne raised her eyes to look at Zachary after she had finally mustered enough courage.
She saw his smiling lips.
Yvonne was slightly taken aback. His smile was gorgeous.
He smiled on his own accord, which was much better than his usual cold face.
Yvonne took a step forward and said, "Yes, I'm quite tired. I'm so sleepy that I can't open my eyes. Miss Harrison and Miss Allen have been staring at me and whispering to each other. They're probably trying to figure out our relationship."
Zachary frowned and looked at her, "Are you snitching on them?"
Yvonne was startled. She thought to herself that President Lowe didn't like people who told on others. She actually didn't like it as well, but she didn't like those who gossip behind others' backs even more.
Yvonne was quick to react. She directly said, "If you want to think so, then I have nothing to say. It doesn't bother me anyway. But I'm only laughing at the secretaries you hired. They can't mind their own business. The next time you hire someone, remember to put more thoughts into it."
After that, she saw Zachary's gaze sharpened.
Taking advantage of that opportunity, Yvonne smiled and said, "If there isn't anything else, I'll take my leave first."
Zachary's sharp gaze locked onto Yvonne's face. His thin lips were bitter cold as he said, "Are you running away after you've run your mouth?"
Yeah.
But Yvonne didn't want to admit it. She looked at him with a smile and blinked, "President, is there anything else?"
Zachary knew that she was playing dumb, but he did not expose her. "We will go to the boutique to try on the outfits tonight. Before that, we're having dinner together." He said lightly.
"Oh, thank you for taking care of my meals." Yvonne said, "Actually if you want to take me to banquets, we can eat at the banquet hall. I prefer buffets."
That was because, in such a place, there were many delicious and different kinds of food around.
Most importantly, during that time, if one merely stood there and did not eat, it would be boring.
When Zachary heard what she had said, he frowned and asked, "Do you really like the food at banquets?"
"Yeah." Yvonne nodded, remaining composed.
Zachary's gaze darkened. He nodded and said, "Well then, we'll eat there."
"President, may I ask what kind of a banquet it is?" Yvonne wasn't very sure about the role she would be playing.
"You'll know when we get there," Zachary said in a deep voice.
"Alright, I'll get going then!"
She wanted to exit the room again.
Yvonne's eagerness to leave really annoyed him.
He ordered in a low voice, "Get out."
Yvonne ran away in no time.
After a while, Zachary sighed, and his gaze sank as he muttered to himself, "Yvonne, don't disappoint me this time."
He couldn't stand such disappointment anymore.
He couldn't afford to spend another seven years on her either.
After work, Zachary brought Yvonne to the boutique to try on their formal outfits.
They got their outfits rather quickly, following the pictures they had decided on earlier. Yvonne looked at the gown she had chosen for herself. It was a conservative white dress, and the shoulder strap was wide, but the neckline was rather low, revealing slight cleavage.
The dress' style was conservative and elegant.
On the other hand, Zachary wore a dark suit, which made him look even more dashing.
And his tie made his Adam's apple sexier.
The two of them changed into their outfits and stood in front of the mirror. They did not look at their reflections, but at each other instead.
Zachary sized Yvonne up and nodded with satisfaction, "You've chosen an outfit to my liking."
"My gown?" Yvonne asked.
Zachary nodded.
Yvonne smiled and said, "I know, I can't wear revealing clothes. I'm not the type who likes to show off or expose herself either, but a tube top dress doesn't suit me. This suits me the best."
Zachary looked at her. Under the light, she looked pure, and her eyes were bright. She was attractive.
