True Fated Marriage (Grace and Heinz) novel Chapter 408

Jensen was startled. "All of them have been caught?" he asked, relief evident in his voice.

"Yes," replied the caller.

"Great. Keep an eye on them and interrogate them tomorrow morning. Remember to detain them separately. So I guess we don't have to work overtime today."

"Really?" exclaimed the caller in surprise. "No way! Not working overtime?"

"Yes. Now go away would you," Jensen hung up the phone with that.

Alice overheard him saying that he wouldn't have to work overtime.

She stared at him with wide eyes.

Jensen put the phone back into his pocket and walked toward Alice, holding her hand. "No more work. Let's go home."

Alice was puzzled. Seeing Jensen's big hand tightly wrapping hers, it melted her heart.

She took a deep breath and asked, "Why is that so? It's so sudden."

"Well, we've arrested the criminals. There's no rush." "So, you don't have to go back to the station now?" "Yeah. I want to go back with you now," Jensen declared. He tilted his head to look at Alice and led her to the car.

Alice breathed in deeply to calm her pounding heart.

Soon, they returned to Hart Villa District.

As soon as Alice entered the house, she walked straight to the bedroom, wanting to take a shower.

Jensen swiftly grabbed her from behind and pulled her into his arms, embracing her tightly.

'Alice, why are you in such a hurry?"

With her body sticking to him, Alice could feel the obvious changes in his body. "I'm going to take my shower."

Jensen tensed up. It was evident that he was being impulsive.

Alice did not dare to move.

She was even more frustrated at that moment. If she couldn't succeed this time, what else could she do?

Nevertheless, she had to slip into the bathroom and take the medicine.

She could only do her best and leave the rest to God.

However, Jensen was still hugging her tight, saying softly, "Alice, I don't need you to do this. I will overcome it and let you understand my feelings for you. We still have a long way to go. So don't worry about me. You will only know me better after we have spent enough time together."

His words melted her heart.

Alice knew that Jensen was actually a warm-hearted person.

She nodded. "Let me take my shower first, okay?" "Alright." He finally let go of her.

Alice took a bottle of water and went into the bathroom.

Holding a box in his hand, Jensen watched her entering the bathroom with a gentle gaze.

He looked at the box. Realizing it was indeed sedative, his heart ached.

"What a silly girl she is," Jensen thought.

He hadn't expected her to have a backup plan. Besides the one from the sex store, she had even bought sedatives.

If he hadn't hugged her the moment before, he wouldn't have felt something in her front pocket. Thinking that it could be medicine, Jensen had discreetly taken it out. His suspicion was confirmed after looking at the pill box.

He proceeded to wash his hands, came back, and sat on the sofa waiting for Alice.

Bringing the bottle of water with her, she must be wanting to take the medicine in the bathroom.

Sure enough, the bedroom door swung open less than a minute after Jensen had sat down.

Alice came out of the room with the opened bottle of water in her hand.

She looked around anxiously, her eyes scanning from the main entrance all the way to the bedroom.

But she couldn't find it.

"Where is the medicine?" she wondered.

Just when she started to feel anxious, her gaze fell on Jensen who was sitting on the sofa, staring at her. The look in his eyes was so complicated.

Alice's heart tightened and she was a bundle of nerves. She said instinctively, "You..."

Then, she stopped abruptly.

She didn't know what to say.
