Hera scowled disdainfully. The first thing Bernard did was to stop her.
"I'll take you to meet someone tomorrow afternoon. After that, you can decide whether you want to meet with Linda the day after, alright?" Bernard explained.
Hera glanced at him suspiciously. He did say earlier that he would take her to meet Lucius. Was that happening tomorrow?
"Sure!" she answered. Hera did want to meet Lucius before seeing Linda.
…
Meanwhile, an executive meeting was held at Killian Corporation's conference room on the highest floor. The purpose of the meeting was to discuss the issue of the company's plummeting share price, and it was held from afternoon until nighttime.
"How long will Mr. Rhett remain under investigation? The CEO position of Killian Corporation can't remain unoccupied indefinitely," Desmond Atkins asked. He was a marketing manager who held some shares at the company.
"Exactly. Killian Corporation's share price has reached an all-time low in the past five years. If Mr. Rhett doesn't return, the shareholders will only grow more concerned," Percy Atkins added.
Desmond and Percy were father and son, and they were also Linda's relatives. Thanks to Rhett and Linda's initial support, Desmond and Percy were able to climb the corporate ladder to where they were now.
Now that Rhett and Linda were in hot water, Desmond and Percy did not want to lose their backers. Thus, they were trying to urge Chad to bring Rhett back.
As for Linda, her crimes were too severe. Thus, they dared not bring her up for now.
"I agree. What's important is to secure Mr. Rhett's release. That will stop the gossip online and ease the shareholders' concerns."
"Mr. Rhett is the person in charge of the project of developing the new chips. The project is now in progress, and many things require his personal approval. He can't be away for too long."
