"Alright. You're dismissed." Chad impatiently waved his hands, seeming rather irritated.
Once Neil left, Chad rested his elbows on the table and propped his head up with his hand. He could feel a headache coming on.
He consoled himself, saying that he wasn't trying to lick Bernard's boots. A few days had passed since Rhett had reviewed any documents for the company.
However, the Special Investigation Department had not provided any updates about Rhett. Chad was always asked to wait for notice whenever he submitted an inquiry.
Even then, Chad did not ask anyone to ask around as he also gravitated toward wanting to learn the truth. After he finished smoking the cigar, he picked up his phone to call Bernard.
Bernard did not answer the first time, so the call disconnected.
Chad called for the second time. The call was about to disconnect when Bernard's unfriendly voice came through. "Yes?"
"You're aware of what Neil told you about, right?" Chad remained unyielding.
"Didn't he tell you my answer?" Bernard asked a question of his own instead.
Chad's blood pressure began to spike uncontrollably when he heard Bernard's aloof tone. "I was informing you, not negotiating with you! You must immediately return to the headquarters next Monday!"
There was no answer, so Chad yelled again, "Did you hear me?"
Since there was no response, Chad checked his phone and realized that Bernard already ended the call. Chad angrily called Bernard again, but he found out that he had been blocked.
…
It was Monday. Rhett's supporters, such as Desmond, Percy, and several other managers, arrived half an hour early at Killian Corporation.
Last week, Chad gave orders for Bernard to return and take over Rhett's workload. Although Desmond and the others couldn't reverse Chad's decision, they could still find ways to make things difficult for Bernard at work.
