Hera furiously returned to the living room. At the same time, Lola came out from the kitchen, carrying a heated ready-to-eat meal before setting it on the table.
"Is that all?" Hera was slightly speechless at the box of heated ready-to-eat food. Lola had spent so much time in the kitchen just to heat up this meal for her?
Was Bernard planning to lock her here and make her eat these ready-to-eat meals? If Hera didn't eat well, she wouldn't have the strength to escape.
But Lola didn't find anything wrong with the food. Instead, she stood at her original spot with a blank expression, looking like a statue.
Hera refused to give up. She headed to the kitchen and opened the fridge. Thankfully, there were fresh vegetables. Seeing how fresh they were, she guessed that the fridge was replenished with food today.
She reached for some pasta and found bacon in the freezer. Then, she began preparing bacon carbonara.
The bacon bits smelled delicious, its fragrance wafting toward the living room. Despite being in the middle of the night, Lola couldn't help but feel hungry after smelling the food. However, she held back her cravings.
"Would you like some?" Hera served two plates of bacon carbonara on the coffee table.
Lola remained expressionless, standing in position like a soldier until Hera finished her portion. Lola was so stern that she did not even look at Hera.
Since Bernard had hired such a strict woman like Lola to watch over her, he was probably serious about locking her up here.
Once she was done eating, Hera pretended to yawn as she headed upstairs to the second floor to sleep. Since Lola did not follow her upstairs, Hera immediately went through all the rooms on the second floor.
Only one room remained locked, so she had no way of entering. Just like the other rooms on the first floor, Hera found nothing useful on the second floor.
She turned her attention to the locked room. If it wasn't a study, it had to be Bernard's room.
If Hera couldn't enter through the door, she could consider climbing through the window in his room. As soon as she opened the window next to her and peeked her head out to estimate the distance between both windows, she heard Lola's voice behind her.
"The second floor is not very high up. But the backyard downstairs is linked to the mountains, where more than ten wolves are being reared there. We haven't fed them for some time."
The warning was unmistakable, and reality was also quite cruel. The windows of the two rooms were about 6.5 feet apart, and there wasn't anything for Hera to grab onto or support herself. If she insisted on climbing over, the chances of her falling were very high.
