Sean walked into the hospital room and went straight to Claire, gently taking the red roses from her arms and placing them on the table beside her.
"You must be hungry. My grandmother made this herself, give it a try," he said, setting the thermos on the table.
Victor, who was thoroughly ignored, felt a wave of irritation wash over him.
Who is this guy, anyway?
So full of himself!
Victor eyed Sean from head to toe, inwardly impressed by the man’s commanding presence.
Yet, his own pride as the son of a wealthy family wouldn't allow him to be outdone. He straightened his back and tried to project his own aura of confidence.
Sean didn't pay him any mind and began unpacking the lunch from the thermos, laying everything out neatly before taking a seat by the window.
Claire was indeed hungry, but with Victor there, she felt too anxious to eat. Her face was pale, and her eyes reflected her unease as she asked, "Victor, what brings you here?"
Victor had assumed that bringing flowers to visit her in the hospital would earn him some gratitude. Instead, she looked at him as if she had seen a ghost. From her tone, it seemed she had no desire to see him at all.
Feeling slighted and frustrated, Victor retorted, "Can't I drop by just to see how you're doing?"
Claire lowered her eyes. If there was nothing going on, she wouldn't even catch Mr. Lewis's attention. Every encounter with him in the past had been filled with scornful remarks.
Why would she hope for him to visit her under such circumstances?
Moreover, Victor's close ties with the Linwood family meant that if he found her, it wouldn’t be long before they did too.
The Linwoods were relentless, willing to sacrifice her for a strategic marriage with the heir of Northcrest City just to gain a foothold in the Eastborough Project.
Initially, for the sake of May and Mandy, Claire thought she might have to comply. But after learning last night that her embroidery had fetched a phenomenal price, she was determined not to compromise herself any longer.
