Where Petals of Vengeance Bloom novel Chapter 74

But Vincent was relentless, refusing to let go.

He insisted she shouldn't hold grudges, forcing her to choose forgiveness.

"What do you want from me? What will it take for you to leave me alone?" Claire screamed hysterically, wildly brandishing the knife in her hand.

"When I was in the orphanage, I trusted you completely. I thought you were my only support in this world. You promised no one would bully me, that you'd become a lawyer and send anyone who hurt me to jail. But what did you do? Did you keep any of your promises?"

"I didn't hold it against you when you broke your word, or when you sent me to prison to take the fall for Vanessa. Why can't you just let me go?"

"Was five years of torment in a dark prison not enough to balance out the fifteen years you cared for me?"

"Fine, I'll pay you back. I'll give it all back."

There was a resolute determination in Claire's eyes as she slowly turned the knife towards herself, plunging it into her shoulder without hesitation.

The sharp blade sliced through her skin instantly, and blood gushed out like a crimson river, staining her arm and the bedsheets beneath her in deep red.

Yet her face remained expressionless, as if she couldn't feel the pain.

In prison, she had suffered much worse injuries and had grown accustomed to enduring all kinds of harm.

Her brow didn't furrow even slightly; she just kept her eyes locked on Vincent, her lips barely moving as she whispered, "Is this enough?"

Vincent stood frozen in shock, his face ashen as he watched the blood continue to pour from Claire's shoulder, the vivid red searing his eyes.

"Not enough?" Claire's voice was eerily calm, as if discussing something unrelated to herself.

And with that, she tightened her grip on the knife handle and pulled it out.
