Whispers Turn to Whimpers: Could He Ever Change? novel Chapter 470

"Alright, got it."

After hanging up, Gilbert hurried to the hospital.

On the way, he called Sophia.

"It's me. How's Jenna doing? I'm on my way."

"Not too good, I'm afraid," Sophia sighed, sharing the truth. "She's asleep now, but it's a restless sleep."

"Understood."

After ending the call, Gilbert's gaze fell, his expression slightly solemn.

Upon reaching the hospital, he didn't head straight for the room but first went to see Elijah.

"Mr. Johnson." Elijah was already aware of his identity. "Please, have a seat. Jenna started her treatment today."

"I'm aware."

Gilbert furrowed his brows and nodded, bringing up the medication, "Dr. Elijah, in your opinion, is this medication beneficial for Jenna?"

"This medication..."

Elijah paused, then nodded. "Of course, it is beneficial."

Although it wasn't a cure, it could significantly alleviate the discomfort Jenna would experience during her treatment.

So why hadn't Elijah prescribed it to Jenna before?

Firstly, it was expensive; secondly, it was hard to source.

"If that's the case, then good."

Relieved that it was an option, Gilbert let out a sigh of relief. "I'll take care of the source. I'll have someone deliver it shortly."

This wasn't an issue for him.

Since Francis was already using this medication, they could start by setting aside some from the reserve for Jenna.

"Thank you, Mr. Johnson."

Grateful, Elijah sincerely thanked him. "I really appreciate this!"

Gilbert waved it off and turned to head to the room.

"Sure."

Gilbert explained the situation regarding the medication.

Upon hearing it, Sophia slapped her thigh in joy. "This is wonderful news! Oh, Jenna won't have to suffer anymore!"

Gilbert reassured her, "We'll go through the proper medical channels. I've already spoken to Dr. Elijah. Please assure Jenna's mom that the medication is safe."

"Right." Sophia nodded eagerly, smiling. "Jenna's really found her guardian angel in you! You're her guardian angel!"

Since Sherilyn wasn't there, Sophia awkwardly expressed her gratitude on her behalf. "I'm overstepping, but on behalf of Jenna's mom, thank you! She'd be overwhelmed with gratitude if she knew about your kindness."

Turning to Jenna, she encouraged her, "Jenna, say thank you!"

"Thank you, sir." Jenna hugged Gilbert, planting a kiss on his cheek. "I love you the most."

Unbeknownst to them, Sherilyn stood by the door, watching everything clearly.

Her eyes brimmed with tears, uncontrollably streaming down her face.

Silently, she thought, “Thank you, Gilbert, thank you...”
