Whispers Turn to Whimpers: Could He Ever Change? novel Chapter 580

"Yeah, I saw that."

Sherilyn pulled out a tissue, wiping away Jenna's sweat-soaked brow, and with a smile, she playfully pinched her little nose. "You did great, Jenna!"

"Hi, Auntie."

Dawn, another little friend, hopped off the swing and stood properly in front of Sherilyn. "I also pushed the swing for Jenna. I didn't bully her."

Sherilyn's eyes were soft and tender as she patted Dawn's head. "Auntie knows. Jenna told me all about it. Dawn, you're her best friend."

"Giggle. Jenna is my best friend too!"

Blushing, Dawn took Jenna's hand. "Jenna, let's go play some more!"

"Sure!" Jenna waved at her mom. "Mommy, wait for me!"

"Okay, off you go." Sherilyn smiled, suppressing the bitterness in her heart.

No matter how tough life got, she wouldn't let her daughter see a hint of it. By being brave and strong herself, her daughter could face the world with a smile.

...

Emerald Estates.

Rebecca fished out her keys and unlocked the door.

"Ms. White, you're back!" The housekeeper hurried over to greet her, gently supporting her arm and whispering, "Ms. White, your husband, he..."

"He's back?"

Before the housekeeper could finish, Rebecca heard Eddy's voice, making her shudder. "What are you doing here?"

"Oh, come on." Eddy chuckled. "I'm your husband. Do I need a reason to see my wife?"

He moved closer, stepping from the couch to stand right before Rebecca. "Rebecca, I was wrong last time. I'm here to apologize. Let's go back home, okay?"

"No, not okay!" Without a second thought, Rebecca shook her head in refusal.

"Rebecca," Eddy said, frowning. "I really see where I went wrong. Forgive me this time, and I promise it won't happen again. Can you trust me?"
