Sherilyn lowered her gaze, took a deep breath, and then released it along with four words: "For Jenna's sake."

"Huh?" Gilbert was still in the dark, "Can you clarify a bit?"

"Alright..."

There was no turning back now. As difficult as it was to say, for Jenna's sake, it had to be said.

Sherilyn furrowed her brows, "Right now, I can't conceive. Once I've recovered, if there's no other way, I think... I might need to give Jenna a sibling."

Gilbert's eyes widened in realization. So, this was what she was talking about.

"You mean..."

Gilbert frowned, his smile fading as he confirmed, "You're planning on... IVF?"

"Yeah." Sherilyn nodded, feeling much more at ease after opening up.

"Oh..."

A heavy feeling settled in Gilbert's heart, not sure if it was disappointment...

But then again, it made sense.

In the past, Sherilyn had to be with him for Jenna's sake, without really wanting to be close to him. And now, since she didn't have feelings for him, it was natural she wouldn't want to continue that closeness...

Besides, with the advancements in medical science, wanting a child didn't necessarily mean they had to be intimate.

Gilbert's brow was creased with deep confusion, "Isn't it too early to think about this?"

"It's not too early."

Sherilyn's gaze shifted, "I've been thinking about when to bring this up to you, and now seems like the right time. Later on... it might not be as convenient for you."
