Thank goodness the room was on the second floor.
Caroline sprinted to the bed, ripping off the sheets and tying them together before pushing the bed to the window.
Transforming the sheets into a makeshift rope, she tied one end to the bedpost and tossed the other out the window.
Taking a deep breath, Caroline climbed out and began to descend, hand over hand along the sheet.
As the ground neared, she realized the sheet fell short.
Gritting her teeth, Caroline closed her eyes and jumped!
"Ouch!"
Landing, her knees collided with the ground, sending stars into her vision. But she didn't dare stop, scrambling to her feet and bolting forward.
“She’s making a run for it!”
“Over there!”
“Come back! Why are you running?”
Her pursuers quickly realized she had fled through the window and gave chase.
Screaming, Caroline didn’t dare look back, running for her life.
But she only had two legs, and they had cars!
Caroline bolted from the motel, dashing onto the main road, desperate to flag down a car.
Spotting an approaching vehicle, she rushed towards it.
“Stop! Please, stop!”
However, the car was moving too fast, and the driver, caught off guard by the sudden appearance of a woman in the road, couldn’t brake in time!
Swerving, the car still clipped her, sending Caroline flying!
Her scream pierced the night as she was thrown aside!
The pursuers caught up, blocking the road.
Headlights from an elegant black Bentley illuminated the scene as it came to an abrupt stop. Gilbert emerged from the car.
Seeing Gilbert, the pursuers hesitated, “Ni... Mr. Nine.”
Gilbert immediately understood, his gaze darkening as he scanned them, “Where is she?”
“She, she…” The leader pointed towards the roadside. “Mr. Nine, it wasn’t our fault, she ran…”
Gilbert’s eyes narrowed, anger swirling within them. The implication was clear; the one struck just moments ago was Sherilyn?
Without questioning further, Gilbert dashed to the roadside, towards that fragile figure!
