Edgar's profile was striking, his smile tinged with a hint of resignation. "I did save you, but I haven't forgotten what you told me before. I understand your concerns."

He paused, sighing. "Don't feel burdened. The things my mom did to you before... I owe you for that. Saving you this time, let's call it even. How about that?"

He spoke of his lifesaving act as if it were nothing.

"...Alright." Sherilyn nodded, her voice a raspy whisper, a smile flickering across her lips.

"Oh." Sherilyn seemed to remember something, pointing to Edgar's arm. "How's your arm?"

"It's a minor injury."

Edgar lifted his arm, rolling up his sleeve to show her. "No damage to the bone, just can't get it wet for a few days, needs regular dressing changes, and I have to watch my diet. Quite the hassle."

Hearing this, Sherilyn frowned. "Don't underestimate it, or it could get infected, and that would be bad."

"Yeah." Edgar saw her serious expression and couldn't help but smile. "I'll be careful."

He lowered his arm, checking the time. "I need to head to the office."

"Okay." Sherilyn felt even more apologetic, urging him, "You should get going."

Edgar gave her a few more instructions before standing up to leave.

"Why are you still standing here?"

Noticing Gilbert rooted at the door, she mentioned, "She's awake now. You can visit her."

"Okay." Gilbert swallowed, a bit nervous. "Is she doing better?"
