Before she could protest, Francis said, "Jane is busy, I'll take you there."
"Oh..."
Rebecca White nodded, allowing him to lead her into the dining room.
She couldn't see, but she could feel Francis, carefully guiding and pulling out a chair for her, then helping her to sit down.
"There, you can sit now."
"Thanks," she replied with a nod.
The caregiver gave Francis a smile, stepped back silently, and left the room, leaving just the two of them.
The room wasn't brightly lit, only the wall lights of the dining area were on.
On the oak dining table, a candlestick was lit, creating a cozy atmosphere.
To accommodate Rebecca White, Francis pulled up a chair and sat beside her. The candlelight cast a soft glow on her face.
Francis unconsciously swallowed and picked up the decanter from the table, pouring two glasses of red wine.
"What's this?" Rebecca asked, sensing the aroma, "Red wine?"
"Yes," Francis nodded, "It's your birthday, let's drink to that."
"Sure."
"Here." He took her hand and handed her the glass, "Got it?"
Rebecca chuckled, "You're fussier than Jane. I might be blind, but I can hold a glass."
"My bad."
Francis gently agreed and raised his glass, gently clinking it against hers.
"Happy Birthday."
Rebecca paused for a moment, her voice slightly choked, "Thank you."
Holding the glass, she took a sip and then said, "This wine..."
"What about it?" Francis frowned, "Don't like it?"
"No..." Rebecca shook her head, "This taste, is it Lafite?"
