"Sherilyn..."
He glanced down at Sherilyn, his smile dimming slightly.
His lips parted, "I guess I should be on my way then."
Sherilyn smiled gently, "Take care."
"Will do."
Gilbert turned and instructed Allen and Abel, "I'm leaving things in your hands."
"Don't worry, Mr. Gilbert."
With them around, he felt reassured.
Gilbert walked over to his car, opened the door, got in, and slowly drove away.
"Ah..."
As the car disappeared into the distance, Rebecca sighed softly. She linked arms with Sherilyn and whispered,
"He's quite considerate."
"Mhm." Sherilyn nodded, not denying it, her clear eyes calm and composed.
When Gilbert cared for someone, he indeed attended to every little detail.
Wasn't that how he was with Caroline?
"Let's go, Jenna's craving dumplings, and they'll be sold out if we're late!"
"I better hurry too, or I'll be late!"
Behind them, Allen and Abel exchanged glances.
One stayed downstairs, the other followed Sherilyn.
...
At the entrance of the neighborhood, Rebecca headed left, and Sherilyn went right.
Sherilyn headed to the market, while Rebecca rushed to the bus stop.
Rebecca boarded the bus and arrived at the supermarket where she worked, running through the employee entrance with a sandwich in hand.
Parked by the curb was a Porsche Cayenne.
Francis sat in the back, quietly watching the slim figure vanish from sight.
"Does she work here?"
"Yes," Sawyer replied, "It's been a few days now."
"What's her job?"
"Stockroom manager."
That sounds tough, Francis frowned instantly.
