He quickly and succinctly recounted the situation.
Then he said, "I'm not sure what connection Gilbert has with the Harrisons, but I suspect Galen was someone Gilbert found... His injuries, they're likely because of Galen..."
Edgar's gaze was fixed on Sherilyn's face.
Her expression was blank, not a trace of emotion showing.
"Sherilyn?"
Edgar frowned, puzzled. "Did you hear me?"
"Hmm?"
Sherilyn raised an eyebrow, her lips curving slightly, nodding, "Yeah... I heard."
Her voice was soft, her tone even.
This reaction...
Edgar didn't quite understand. Gilbert was injured because of Galen, essentially for her. Wasn't she moved?
Perhaps, Sherilyn really had no feelings for Gilbert anymore?
Shaking his head, Edgar decided that no matter what, some truths weighed heavily on him, and he felt suffocated.
Today, he had to lay everything out!
"And there's more..."
Edgar continued, "The other day, the 'false accusation' against you by Yuna, you got off so quickly because..."
He recounted the conversation he overheard between Gilbert and Edwin Morris in the hospital room, sparing no detail.
Swallowing hard, he added, "The so-called eyewitness... it was Gilbert's idea."
Sherilyn's eyes widened slightly, her lips parting in shock.
So, that was what happened. It all made sense now...
"Sherilyn." Edgar frowned, apologizing, "I'm sorry. I knew but chose to hide it... Sorry for telling you only now."
It was a dishonorable act.
But he was only human, and selfishness was part of human nature...
Deep down, he didn't want Sherilyn to have any more ties with Gilbert.
Yet, he couldn't ignore his conscience.
Especially now that Gilbert was lying in the emergency room, having just received a critical condition notice!
Edgar took a deep breath, having finally said his piece.
