Whispers Turn to Whimpers: Could He Ever Change? novel Chapter 860

\"Hah!\"

Rebecca White couldn't hold it back and let out a scoff. Her beautiful, almond-shaped eyes lifted at the corners. \"Are you kidding me? Not splitting up? For life?\"

She shook her head, her tone light and breezy. \"Eddy, are you planning to trap me, and then, what? Finish me off?\"

\"No, no!\" Eddy panicked, shaking his head in distress. \"I didn't want this, but, I just can't help but think back to our wedding day...\"

\"Stop!\" Rebecca White closed her eyes briefly. \"I get it, so... let's just get a divorce. That solves everything, doesn't it?\"

\"That's not a solution!\" Eddy shook his head vehemently. \"We should be together. How is splitting up a solution?\"

The air turned quiet for a moment. Rebecca White was all too familiar with these words. Over the years, hadn't they discussed this very topic? But all it led to was his intensified infidelity and domestic violence...

\"Ugh.\" Rebecca White sighed, slowly pulling her hand away from his grip. \"What happened on our wedding night can't be changed. The only solution is for you to let go... but it's been five years, and you can't. Divorce is our only way out...\"

She chuckled. \"Actually, we should have split back when it all happened, instead of wasting these years...\"

\"Rebecca, I...\" Rebecca White looked at him and continued, \"If we had split then, maybe today we could've just nodded and smiled at each other in passing, instead of becoming enemies...\"

Eddy shuddered slightly, his shoulders trembling. \"Enemies?\"

\"Isn't that what we are?\" Rebecca White smiled faintly. \"When you were beating me to death, you weren't just treating me like an enemy, you weren't treating me like a person at all!\"

The pain was branded on her body, etched in her mind, impossible to erase! Her eyes slightly moist, \"With you treating me like that, you are my enemy!\"
