"Awake?" Sherilyn smiled, gesturing to the bag in her hands. "I brought breakfast. Why don't you eat before you go?"

"No, thanks." Gilbert's voice was strained as he shook his head. "I've got an international video conference early this morning. I need to head out now."

"I see..." Sherilyn smiled. "Then I won't keep you. Go ahead and get busy."

"Right." Gilbert nodded, grabbing his blazer from the couch. "I'll come by tonight."

"Uh, Sherilyn..." Gilbert paused, his gaze lingering on her face, his brow furrowed, as if he wanted to say something but hesitated.
