Whispers Turn to Whimpers: Could He Ever Change? novel Chapter 892

"Are you still not feeling better?" Gilbert frowned, then suggested, "Why don't you take the medicine now?"

As he spoke, he started to open the pillbox.

"Wait!" Sherilyn grimaced, gesturing for him to stop.

"What's wrong?" Gilbert paused, puzzled.

Sherilyn hesitated, thinking her resistance would be evident. But it seemed some things needed to be spelled out.

She chuckled ruefully, "Are you actually concerned about me? Do you care that much?"

Caught off guard by her direct question, Gilbert's eyes flickered, and after a brief silence, he nodded, his gaze showing a hint of uncertainty.

"Is... Is it okay for me to care, Sherilyn?"

Without a second thought, Sherilyn shook her head, "No, it's not okay. I don't need it," she said, coughing as if a feather was tickling her throat.

"You don't need it?" Gilbert's expression darkened, his eyes turning cold.

"Then whose concern do you need? Edgar's?" Gilbert scoffed, "Isn't your current state because of him? Too bad, he doesn't want you anymore!"

What? Sherilyn was stunned. What was he babbling about?

Anger surged within her, and she pointed toward the door, "Get out! Just leave!"

"Sherilyn..." Gilbert panicked. He regretted his words almost immediately. Why couldn't he hold back?

Gilbert refused to leave, bowing his head in apology, "I'm sorry... I spoke out of turn."

Sherilyn flushed with anger, or perhaps from the coughing, and after catching her breath, she laughed coldly, "Yeah! Edgar doesn't want me anymore! I'm sick from heartbreak! But that's my own doing. What does it have to do with you?"

Hearing this, Gilbert felt a sting in his heart. Sherilyn admitted it; she really did fall sick over Edgar!

In a moment of impulse, Gilbert grasped her arm, his voice trembling, "He doesn't want you, stop thinking about him!"
