Whispers Turn to Whimpers: Could He Ever Change? novel Chapter 906

Sherilyn's heart raced as she turned her back.

"Quit your yapping in front of Mr. Nine! Don't make me believe I have to kick you to the curb, got it?"

"Alright, alright, I'll talk..."

Saul winced, his vision blurring with pain.

His face paled as he nodded vigorously, "Someone put me up to this, I... I took their bribe."

"Who?"

Gilbert narrowed his eyes, his hand firmly on Sherilyn's back to keep her from turning around.

His voice was cold and commanding, a calm fury in his tone.

"It was..."

Struggling to catch his breath from the pain, Saul gasped out a name, "Caroline... Bennett!"

What? Gilbert was taken aback, his head snapping down to look at Sherilyn in his arms.

Sherilyn was equally shocked, her head lifting to lock eyes with him. "Her?!"

After the initial shock came realization.

Of course, it was her!

Besides her, no one had such a deep grudge against Sherilyn!

"Hmph."

Sherilyn fixed her gaze on Gilbert, a faint smile playing on her lips, loaded with meaning. "You heard that?"

"Yeah." Gilbert nodded.

"So, what are you going to do about it?" Sherilyn's smile deepened, "Or should we just let it slide?"

Understanding her, Gilbert's expression remained unchanged, "No, we can't let this slide. I'll take care of it."

Really?

Sherilyn was skeptical but nodded, "And how do you plan to handle this?"

"Don't worry."

After a moment of contemplation, Gilbert spoke, "We need to confront Caroline Bennett in person, get the truth out of her, right?"

Hmph.

Sherilyn scoffed, "It's pointless! She's hated me for more than a day or two."

At first, it was because she shared Sylvia Johnson's affection.

Then, there was the matter with Francis and Gilbert themselves...

In Caroline's eyes, since she had done a favor for the Johnson family, everyone in the family should revolve around her alone!

"When will you go see her?"
