Gilbert could easily picture Sherilyn stuffing slices of toast into her mouth, barely chewing before swallowing.
He told Naomi, "You don't need to worry about this, go handle something else."
"Sure thing, Mr. Johnson."
Gilbert turned and left.
When he came back, he was carrying a thermos food container and headed straight for the makeup room as if it was his own home.
Security and crew members greeted him as they saw him pass; nobody thought to stop him.
At that moment, Sherilyn had just finished getting her makeup done.
Feeling a bit hungry and not seeing Naomi around, she picked up her phone to look for her. "Where has that young lady gone off to?"
Gilbert walked in, pulled up a chair in front of her, and placed the thermos food container on the makeup table.
"Feeling hungry?" he said with a smile.
Sherilyn looked at him, puzzled.
As Gilbert opened the thermos, he explained, "I ran into your assistant earlier. She told me you hadn't had anything to eat."
He gave her a light glare.
"What kind of assistant doesn't even know you hate cilantro?"
"Pfft."
Sherilyn couldn't help but laugh. "Is it strange for an assistant not to know? She's only been here a few days. You've only known for a short while yourself, and you've been my husband for years."
Her words were dripping with sarcasm, yet it sounded like she was complaining or cooing at him.
"It's my fault."
Gilbert's gaze darkened slightly, genuinely apologetic. "My mistake... It won't happen again."
"Here."
He pushed the thermos towards her. "Have some. The hotel chef made it just now, added vinegar and hot sauce, just the way you like it, sour and spicy. I remembered correctly, didn't I?"
Seeing him like this, Sherilyn felt it was pointless.
And considering what had happened between them the previous night...
Sherilyn felt her cheeks heating up uncomfortably.
Frowning, she said, "I don't want it."
