"What the heck?"
Jack blinked in amused disbelief, his eyes narrowing with a smirk. "Eli, you hear yourself? If I just hand over my niece to you now, how could I ever trust you to keep me safe?"
He snorted with disdain.
Eli's response was a light, mocking chuckle before his hand darted into his pocket to pull out a switchblade.
As the blade snapped open, it caught the dim light, casting sinister shadows.
"What are you planning to do?" Jack stiffened.
His crew immediately circled around him for protection.
"Eli Harrison! Have you lost your mind?"
Jack leaped to his feet in shock. "You dare mess around? Don't forget, I've still got your daughter!"
Eli hadn't forgotten.
"My daughter's just four years old, and my wife's waiting outside for her… Hand her over to her! As for you…"
He raised the knife.
"I'll leave a finger here with you! I'll talk to Mr. Naylor, ensure you stay in Sunhaven! Once it's done, I'll come back for my finger!"
His eyebrows twitched. "How about that?"
Jack was flabbergasted, stuttering, "You… you're serious?"
"Absolutely!"
Eli's laugh was cold and decisive. As his words fell, he gripped the knife tighter.
"Jack, I'm trading my severed finger for my daughter! Worth it or not?"
The room fell silent.
Knife raised, then sharply descended!
"Ah!"
Eli clenched his teeth, his eyes tightly shut.
The pain from the severed finger was excruciating, his vision blurring, nearly passing out!
But he couldn’t afford to.
"Done!" Eli's face was ghostly pale, his body uncontrollably shaking with shock and pain.
He took off his jacket, wrapping it around his mutilated left hand.
His hawk-like gaze fixed on Jack, his breathing harsh, voice barely a whisper.
"Where’s my daughter? Jack, hand her over!"
Everyone present, including Jack, was utterly shocked by the scene.
