Since Gilbert was still catching some Z's, Sherilyn decided to swing by Jenna's room first.
Sophia was there, keeping Jenna company. She whispered as Sherilyn entered, "She's still out like a light, but she's been fussing a bit in her sleep."
The little munchkin was sprawled out on the bed, her arms thrown above her head, her chubby cheeks glistening where tears had wet her eyelashes.
Sherilyn took the little girl's hand gently and sighed, "She must've gotten a scare."
"Yeah."

Next door, Gilbert's eyes flickered open.
"Mr. Gilbert, you're awake?" Charles, who had been on vigil by his bedside, stood up immediately, concerned. "How are you feeling?"
Gilbert frowned, glancing at his left arm, which was wrapped up tight in bandages.
Clearly, he was in a hospital, post-surgery.
He shook his head, trying to sit up, insisting on getting out of bed.
"What do you need, Mr. Gilbert?"
Charles tried to hold him back, "Should I get a nurse, or... Don't get up, please..."
"Tch!"
Gilbert scowled in annoyance, "I'm fine. How's Jenna? And Sherilyn? Are they here too? I need to check on them..."
"Mr. Gilbert, you've just come around from anesthesia; you really shouldn't be moving around just yet..."
"Move!"
"Mr. Gilbert..."
As Charles was caught in a tight spot, the door swung open, and there stood Sherilyn, like a beacon of hope.
"Sherilyn! You're here? Thank God, can you keep Mr. Gilbert in bed, please?"
Closing the door behind her, Sherilyn walked straight over.
"Sherilyn." Gilbert's voice wavered slightly as he met her gaze.
Before she even said a word, his defiance seemed to melt away.
"Did you... Did you come for me? How's Jenna? Weren't you with her? Is she done with her check-up? What did the doctor say?"
Sherilyn approached, standing right in front of him, silent for a moment.
His first concern upon waking was Jenna...
