Charlotte fell her resolve wavering. 

Still, she held her tongue and said nothing.

When Arthur brought Joanna to the hospital room, they found Sebastian sitting in a chair, instantly furrowing Arthur’s eyebrows. 

“Mmph! Mmph!” 

The bodyguards pushed Joanna into the room with her hands bound and mouth taped shut. Her eyes lit up when she saw Sebastian, but her cries for help came out as nothing more than muffled sounds. 

Sebastian jumped to his feet at the sight. “Arthur, how could you treat her like this? Let her go!” 

The bodyguards blocked his path, keeping him from getting closer. 

Arthur completely ignored Sebastian and fixed his eyes on Charlotte. “What’s he doing here?” he asked in a low voice.

“He heard I was hurt and came to check on me,” Charlotte replied. 

“I see,” he responded, his tone carrying an unreadable edge. 

His mocking gaze fell on Sebastian as he asked, “Where did you hear about her injury? I had the information locked down tight. No one should have known except those involved in the incident.” 

“Arthur, that’s enough!” Charlotte quickly interrupted as his implications grew more outrageous. “The hospital is full of people coming and going, and Sebastian has many friends. Isn’t it perfectly normal that he found out by chance?” 

Arthur’s expression instantly changed, and his gaze at her became more complicated. 

He thought, “What had Sebastian told her before I arrived? 

Why is she reacting so strongly? 

Does she stop doubting Sebastian?” 

Sebastian glared at him angrily. “Arthur, stop trying to drive a wedge between us. How I found out is none of your business. Instead, I want to know why Lottie got hurt in the first place. How were you supposedly protecting her?” 

Arthur’s face darkened immediately, and the atmosphere in the hospital room grew tense.

“Hmph!” Joanna, feeling ignored, made a noise to remind everyone of her presence. 

Sebastian quickly stepped in. “Arthur, let her go. Can’t we talk this out? Why are you treating her like this?” 

“Why should I talk nicely to her? Who does she think she is?” Arthur sneered, completely dismissing Sebastian and showing nothing but disgust for Joanna. 

Sebastian stood there helplessly, his face dark with anger. 

“Remove her gag first,” Charlotte ordered. 

The bodyguard nodded and ripped the tape off Joanna’s mouth. 

Joanna let out a muffled groan, then immediately cried out to Sebastian, “Sebastian, please help me! He’s going to kill me!” 

“No one’s going to kill you,” Charlotte stated firmly. “Just tell us everything you know, and you’ll be fine.”
