Chapter 447 Camille Visits Again 

Her answer caught him completely off guard! 

He let out a soft chuckle and got to his feet. “You’re right. I shouldn’t try to take shortcuts. I’ll take my leave now. Looking forward to our next meeting.” 

He maintained his composure in front of Mabel. 

Once he left, Evie let out a massive sigh of relief. 

Mabel sensed her mother’s mood and asked sweetly, “Mommy, don’t you like Mr. Mendez?” 

“No, I don’t.” Evie shook her head. “Stay away from him from now on, okay? What if he tries to take you away? That would break Mommy’s heart.” 

“I’ll never make Mommy sad!” Mabel declared immediately. 

Evie hugged her tight, but her heart was still heavy with worry. 

The next day, she flew straight back to Lanceser. 

After hearing about what happened to Charlotte, she took Mabel to the hospital. 

Mabel brought a bouquet of roses and handed them to Charlotte as soon as she saw her. “Ms. Lottie, please get better soon!”

She turned to look at Evie and noticed how tired and worn out she appeared. “Haven’t you been sleeping well?” she asked. 

“I feel like there’s a sword hanging over my head, ready to drop at any moment. How could I possibly get any rest?” Evie said immediately. 

Charlotte held her tongue, mindful of Mabel’s presence. 

Understanding the situation, Evie changed the subject. “What happened? How did you get hurt?” 

Charlotte gave her a brief rundown of the events. 

“That’s scary stuff!” Evie rubbed her chin thoughtfully. “These high–society families always look perfect on the outside, but they’re the most rotten on the inside.” 

Charlotte nodded in agreement. 

Evie pulled up a chair beside her. “Sarah’s wedding is in a few days. Are you going?” 

“No, I’m not,” Charlotte replied. 

Evie let out a cynical laugh. “Don’t you want to see karma bite her back? She schemed hard to marry Arthur, only for him to hand her off to someone else. Just thinking about it gives me chills.”

“I don’t want to see it,” Charlotte said calmly. “My shoulder hasn’t healed yet.”

Going to the wedding meant facing the Hardwick family, and she wanted to avoid that. She never wanted to see anyone from the Hardwick family ever again. 

Seeing her reaction, Evie dropped the subject. 

But while Charlotte had decided not to go, Camille showed up at her door. 

The following day, just after Charlotte finished her breakfast, familiar voices drifted in from the doorway. 

“My daughter is staying here! What do you mean I can’t go in?” 

It was Camille’s voice. 

Why was she here again? 

“Ma’am, unauthorized visitors are not allowed to disturb Ms. Hardwick’s rest. Please leave now, or I’ll have to take action,” the security guard said firmly. 

Camille took an instinctive step back, clutching her hand where her fingers still throbbed with pain. 

This was infuriating! 

How dare they stop her from seeing Charlotte!
