Charlotte pressed her red lips together. “I came to find you.” 

Ava blinked in confusion. “Find me? What for?” 

“I was afraid you’d abandon me.” Charlotte’s voice came out hoarse and muffled. 

Ava shook her head with a gentle smile, leading her inside while holding her hand. “Have you been overthinking again? I would never abandon you. If I wanted to do that, I wouldn’t have seen you when you came looking for me in Camoreham.” 

Charlotte blinked uncertainly. “Then why did you come this time?”
