A feeling of rage and uncertainty coursed through Rome as he darted his eyes around the hotel room, working his brain hard.
Suddenly, the door opened, and Rome drew his attention away from the window, focusing his gaze on K.
“You have been in here for a while now, and I thought I should check up on you,” K said with a touch of worry in his eyes as he shut the door.
“This is going to be the death of me if she doesn't return to me safely,” Rome mumbled, burying his face in his hand.
The presence of fear intensified in him, and he couldn't shake off the feeling.
Walking further into the room, K kept his gaze fixed on Rome as he asked, “Do you believe that Axel will keep his word? From Charles and Chloe's experience, he doesn't seem like a trustworthy person."
“I know that, K!" Rome said, withdrawing his face from his palm.
There was a brief pause. Then K sadly gazed at Rome and mumbled, “So what now?”
It became awfully silent as Rome glared at K, wondering what to do with the entire situation.
After focusing on his thoughts for a while, he frowned and mumbled, “I am vulnerable."
Caressing his index finger against his lip, Rome took a long look at K. Then he paused for a moment and said, “But, I am not the only one who is exposed at this moment!"
For a while, K didn't speak as he tried to understand what Rome was getting at. After a couple of seconds of no luck, he said, “I don't understand, boss."
"If Axel needs me away from my father, then he has to have eyes on me at all times and on my father at the same time!" Rome mumbled, still trying to put the pieces of the puzzles together.
Slowly, a smirk crept on K's lips, and he mumbled, "That means his men will be nearby."
"Exactly! If my assumption is right, we will be watched by his men all night." Rome said. "I need you to get access to the hotel security room and monitor the CCTV footage. I need to know who his men are, and how many are there."
"Yes, boss!"
"Hand me your phone!"
Without wasting a second, K pulled his phone out of his pocket and gave it to Rome.
After finding Mr. Ford's number in K's contact, Rome dialed it and waited impatiently.
Pacing back and forth in the living room, Mr. Ford's eyes bore worry in them as he stared at Mr. Miller, sitting on the couch with his body trembling and raw fear in his expression.
Suddenly his phone buzzed in his hand and he hastily answered the call.
"Dad," Rome calmly said, fighting against his emotions.
"Rome, what am I hearing? Catherine has been kidnapped!" Mr. Ford's uttered, his voice shaking with panic.
A frown flickered across Rome's forehead and his eyes glowed with anger as he said, "We can discuss that later! Right now, I need you to ask Bill if there's any suspicious vehicle parking around the mansion, or if any skeptical person is watching the house."
"Okay, and if there is?" Mr. Ford said, locking eyes with Mr. Miller's concerned gaze.
"Just keep eyes on them and do nothing else. If they move, get someone to track them secretly. But do not approach and do not attack them!"
"Rome, maybe…"
"Dad, that freak has my wife, and until I can figure out how to get her out of his grip safely, I need everyone to stand still! Till I give the command to move!"
"I got it, son. I got it."
Standing from the chair, Mr. Miller walked over to Mr. Ford and said, "What's going on? Will Catherine be okay? Is Rome coming home?"
