BOOK 2. CHAPTER 47 

Harriette’s POV 

Reluctantly, I stood up from the bed and made my way out. I was mad at Rowan for leaving me alone in the room. If he had to leave, the best thing he could’ve done was wake me up. I was hit with instant regret but I managed to push it away. 

My eyes caught up with the time as I wanted to open the room’s door. It was almost nine in the morning I frowned. I was supposed to be doing something by that time. What was I forgetting? 

I gasped once I realized I was supposed to be leaving the pack by nine along with Alpha Darius and his family. 

Shit! Shit! I was late. 

I opened the door and to my greatest surprise, Rowan was standing by the door. He turned to me. 

You’re awake?” 

“I thought you left,” I said. 

“To where?” He asked. 

I shrugged. To anywhere in the pack. I thought he left me alone in the room after the passionate night we shared. 

He kissed my forehead and I placed my head against his chest. 

“Harriette, we’ll be late,” 

I frowned as another voice announced. Was that in my head or in the room? 

I removed myself from Rowan and his towering height so I could see. Right in the room were Luna Angela and Alpha 

Darius. 

Shit! Fuck!. 

Luna Angela scrutinized me and she smirked. I looked down at my body to see that I was still wearing Rowan’s shirt. I felt so embarrassed and wished the ground would open up to swallow me whole. 

What was I thinking sleeping so late when I knew these people were waiting for me? 

“Good morning,” I said as I waved slightly at them. I looked up to see a playful smirk on Rowan’s face. I knew Rowan and Alpha Darius didn’t like each other for reasons best known to them and at that point, the hostility wasn’t missing. 

Alpha Darius had a deadly glare on his face directed at Rowan, 

“We’ve been waiting for you, Harriette,” Luna Angela said. 

“You should’ve woken me up instead of waiting, “I told her, 

“We’ve been here for about three hours, Harriette. Alpha Rowan wouldn’t let us get past that door, not to talk of waking you up. 

She answered. 

I turned to Rowan. He’s been up for three hours, standing by the door so they wouldn’t wake me up. I melted like butter at the sweet gesture.

Chapter 177 

Since a sofa was right in front of us, I quickly intertwined our fingers. He squeezed gently. 

“Can we leave now?” Alpha Darius asked. 

Luna Angela was already on her feet. 

“No,” I answered. 

The three of them turned to me. “what?” Alpha Darius and Luna Angela chorused. 

“I don’t want to leave again. I want to stay here with Rowan,” 

“You agreed to leave with us.” 

“Yes I know but I’m changing my mind now. That’s okay, right?” I asked Rowan. 

He was silent. He didn’t say a word about what I’d said. That was when it became clear to me that he still didn’t want me 

here. 

Why was I acting stupid then? 

“You should please excuse us. I wanna talk to her, Rowan suggested. 

Thanks, Alpha Darius let out a growl before he walked out with Luna Angela 

As soon as they closed the door, I turned to Rowan 

“You don’t want me here, do you?” 

He shook his head. “You don’t have the slightest idea of what you’re talking about. Of course, I want you here. More than anything else but for now, I can’t have you here,” 

“Why?” I asked. I was so close to tears but I promised myself that I wouldn’t cry.

“Because you need to find yourself. Staying here much longer wouldn’t help you. You need to know your enough trust for the people around you,” he said. 

“I don’t want to do that,” 

He held my face in his palm and made me look at him. “You need it. That way, you can find out why and how you became Harriette. 

He was right about that. I needed to find out if these people were truly my parents so I could know what happened that made me stop being Reina and suddenly become Harriette. How I managed to erase every memory of who I was and take on another name that wasn’t even mine. 

I needed to find myself but doing it without Rowan looked impossible to me. 

“And you can come back to tell me why you wanted to kill me,” 

He suddenly added and I stopped breathing for a few seconds. 

I’m sorry I quickly apologized. 

“You shouldn’t apologize. I just need to know why. You don’t have to tell me now. Just think about it and tell me when you get back or when I come to see you in two weeks,” 

“You promise?” asked him

He answered.

I stood on my toes and kissed him. He wrapped his arm around my waist and kissed me back. I didn’t want to let go but 1 didn’t have a choice. 

“Come on. Let’s get you home,” 

I went back to my room with Rowan and found Ella waiting. She had finished packing for me. I took a quick shower, changed into another outfit, and folded Rowan’s shirt. 

When I came out of the room, Rowan was waiting. Every other person was waiting outside the building. 

“Can I take this with me?” I asked, referring to the shirt. 

He nodded. “Yes,” 

“I want you to have this,” 

I 

I removed my knife from behind my shirt and gave it to him. 

“Why?” 

“I don’t want to go there with it. I want to be open–minded. You can throw it away or keep it. I don’t really care,” 

Kowan hugged me again and kissed my hair and he walked away in the opposite direction immediately without looking at 

me twice. 

I walked out of the building. 

“I’m gonna miss you, Trouble,” Gideon said. 

“Me too.”
