Melody's voice was still hoarse. After speaking, she dared not look at Jeremy. She stared at the needle in her hand.
The emergency room bustled, yet their corner felt oppressively silent.
She didn't lift her head, but she could feel Jeremy's cold, angry gaze. That hint of anger made her even less willing to look up.
Jeremy's dark eyes stayed on her for a long moment. Then, he turned and walked out.
Melody pressed her lips together. Her mood sank.
Felicia returned, looking shocked. "Did I just see Jeremy? Who ticked him off? He looked ready to hack someone."
Noticing Melody's gloom, Felicia quickly switched topics. "I called my brother-in-law. He thinks we should ask Regallo whether they even know about this."
Melody murmured, "I'll go ask."
"Melody, Andrew is your adoptive father. Is it right for you to confront him?" Felicia asked, worried.
Andrew's act could fool outsiders, but Felicia knew how he really treated Melody. To put it bluntly, Melody was just a prop he used to look like a good man.
Melody shook her head. "You've helped enough. This matter doesn't concern you directly, and you shouldn't get too involved."
The Yorks worked with the Wardolfs. She couldn't drag them into this mess.
"I... I'll go," Jason suggested suddenly.
Felicia didn't want to discourage him, but she spoke the truth. "You don't even know where the Wardolf residence is. How are you going to get in?"
Jason said stubbornly, "I'll go to... to his company."
