A Whisper that went unheard novel Chapter 103

Jeremy felt so irritable that even Caleb sounded noisy.

Harold gave him a thoughtful look. "Weren't you escorting a patient to testing? What happened? The patient came back a while ago, yet you just returned. I heard you went to the emergency room."

Caleb looked baffled. "Escort a patient? Isn't that an orderly's job?"

Seeing Caleb's blank expression, Harold slapped his shoulder. "Dude, you've got a lot to learn. It's normal for a doctor to accompany a patient for tests."

"Then, why did he go to the emergency room?" Harold added. "Did they call again?"

Jeremy snapped in annoyance, "Why are you asking so much?"

He brushed past Caleb and left.

Caleb turned to Harold and asked, "What's up with him?"

Harold only smiled. He did know one thing—Melody was getting an IV in the emergency room.

...

Melody stayed in the emergency room for half the day before heading home. She was exhausted.

Tiffany had told Gwen about her condition, and Gwen had arranged another night off for her.

Melody ate a quick meal and collapsed into bed.

She slept deeply. When she woke again, night had fallen.

Most of the discomfort was gone. She took her temperature—it was normal.

She opened her door. The living room was pitch-black, which meant Jeremy wasn't home.

She walked toward the light switch, but an arm suddenly wrapped around her waist. A cool, clean scent surrounded her.
