A Whisper that went unheard novel Chapter 190

Melody had originally planned to have dinner with the kids at the orphanage. But in the end, she didn't get the chance to because Gwen had suddenly asked her to go back to the hospital to help out.

The department had recently admitted a lot of new patients, and there weren't a lot of people working the night shift to begin with. Not to mention, five patients had been transferred over from the ER earlier, and three of them were in critical condition.

Thus, Gwen could only give Melody a call and ask her to go back to the hospital.

Melody didn't refuse. She simply said her goodbyes to Fiona and headed off.

As she walked out, she started booking a cab. But just as she walked past the gates of the orphanage, she noticed a familiar-looking car parked outside.

There, Jeremy was leaning against the car, eyes downcast and lost in thought.

Melody stilled. Then, after some hesitation, she said, "I thought you'd left already."

Upon hearing her voice, Jeremy raised his head and looked at her. His expression was still as cool and unreadable as ever. "Harold said that you were going back to the hospital too and asked me to give you a ride."

Melody nodded, not thinking much of it.

Gwen had already explained things in detail over the phone call, and things were indeed chaotic.

She walked to the passenger side and said, "Then let's go."

It was like a battlefield back at the department, and everyone had basically resorted to running around.

The moment Melody got back, Gwen shoved her right into the changing rooms.

Once Melody was in scrubs, she was assigned task after task and continued to be swamped with work until the middle of the night.

The doctors had been very busy during that time too, and Melody had run into Jeremy multiple times. Every time she saw him, his eyebrows were furrowed, and he looked very serious.
