Jeremy firmly held the door open.
Momentarily caught off guard, Melody lost her grip, allowing him to push it open.
Melody frowned. "How could the plumbing system suddenly break down?"
"Lack of maintenance," Jeremy simply said as he stepped into the room.
Melody quickly composed herself and stood rooted to the spot. "Are you here to talk to me about something?"
Maybe it was because they were on the island, so Jeremy had swapped his usual shirt for a casual gray T-shirt. His fair skin could be seen beneath the short sleeves, and his hair was slightly tousled across his forehead.
He seemed less stiff and formal and a little more youthful than usual, though his expression remained as distant and aloof as ever.
He glanced at Melody, and a slight furrow appeared between his brows. It seemed as if he were carefully considering something.
Right now, Melody had no intention of spending time alone with Jeremy. Her heart still felt unsettled from earlier. She lowered her gaze and softly said, "If there's nothing important, please leave. I'm tired and want to rest."
Yet, as soon as she finished speaking, Jeremy handed her a bank card. Without any noticeable emotion, he said, "This is my bank card. You can keep it."
Melody paused and didn't reach for it. "Why are you giving this to me?"
Jeremy glanced around the room and calmly replied, "Isn't this upgraded suite you're staying in also paid for with my money?"
Melody raised her eyes in confusion.
Jeremy paused slightly before continuing, "You can use it however you want."
Ophelia had a point. He rarely spent any of his money, and except for buying the apartment, he had hardly touched his savings. Even the luxury cars in his garage were gifts from Owen. He rarely drove them.
To Jeremy, it didn't matter much who used his money. If it made Melody feel more secure or satisfied, he didn't mind.
After all, Caleb had also once mentioned that women cared deeply about whether they had control over their boyfriend's finances.
Yet, Melody shook her head. "I don't need it." She had no idea why Jeremy had suddenly offered her his bank card, but she was well aware that they had unresolved issues between them.
She realized that there were many fundamental differences in their thought process, and these differences created multiple problems for them.
Yet, every time these issues appeared, they always brushed over them, leaving them unresolved and destined to reoccur.
It didn't matter whether it was Krystal or Cassie—the problem was still the same.
Melody finally mustered the courage to push Jeremy's hand away. She looked straight into his eyes and said, "Jeremy, I don't want your bank card. Instead, I want to talk openly about the problems between us.
"Can we do that?" She bit her lower lip and carefully observed his expression, not even blinking once.
