Still, Melody couldn't help feeling down.
When they returned to the nurses' station, Melody noticed that Penelope was also working that night.
As soon as Penelope saw her, she clicked her tongue disdainfully. "I warned you before, didn't I? It's important to focus on your real job first. Nothing good comes from being distracted."
Melody frowned slightly upon noticing that Penelope was holding her phone. The screen was open to the comments on Melody's Twitter page.
Tiffany sneered. "Who are you trying to impress now? Krystal's not even here."
Melody looked at Penelope and said, "Ms. Fisher, I don't think I've ever offended you. But you seem determined to keep picking fights with me." She had let it slide the first time, but now, she had to confront her.
Melody calmly stared at Penelope, waiting for her answer.
Penelope appeared flustered under Melody's stare and waved her phone, sharply snapping, "Offended? You think too highly of yourself. You're the one who brought this on. Are you afraid of the truth?
"Why don't you take a good look at the comments? Just make sure your mess doesn't affect the rest of us!"
With that, Penelope angrily stormed away, bumping Melody and Tiffany aside as she did.
Tiffany angrily muttered, "She's just sucking up to Krystal. Anyone can see that."
Melody didn't respond. Her expression grew serious as she pulled out her phone and opened her Twitter.
The negative comments were still pouring in—some had even turned vulgar.
Melody's heart skipped a beat. She quickly sent the screenshots to Alexis, hoping she might know what was going on.
But unfortunately, Alexis didn't reply.
Tiffany noticed Melody's worried expression and tried comforting her, saying, "Don't mind what Penelope said. Didn't you say it yourself earlier? This is all part of the game when you put yourself out there.
"Just ignore it. They don't even know your real details, so the hospital won't be affected."
But Tiffany had spoken too soon.
