A Whisper that went unheard novel Chapter 224

The man burst into the department, screaming Melody's name as he rushed wildly toward the nurses' station.

Everyone jumped in fright, but thankfully, the security guards quickly tackled him before he could get close. Still, he ended up very near Melody.

The man spotted her and immediately struggled to reach her. He strained against the guards, his face and neck flushing bright red with exertion.

His desperate shouts echoed through the halls, "Melody! Marry me! I'll protect you! I won't let anyone bully you! I love you!"

It wasn't until the man was dragged away that the department finally returned to silence. Even then, the nurses at the station remained visibly shaken.

Someone quietly muttered, "Mel, you even have a crazy fan now? That's seriously scary."

...

Due to that disturbing incident, Melody couldn't leave right away. Instead, she was called into the department office.

Both the department head, Benson, and the hospital administrator, Charles, were waiting inside with grave expressions.

Charles sternly glanced at Melody and asked, "Ms. Wardolf, can you please explain what exactly happened earlier?"

Melody was still reeling from the shock. She opened her mouth but couldn't form the right words. Eventually, she could only lower her head and quietly apologize, "I'm sorry. It's my fault."

Charles' expression turned even more serious. "Do you realize the kind of impact that incident has had on the Neurosurgery Department today? Some of our patients were startled, and we even had paparazzi sneaking into the hospital to get pictures. Luckily, security stopped them."

He paused and added in a heavy voice, "Ms. Wardolf, this is the second time something like this has happened. The last time, with the incident involving Tessa Langford, you also caused quite a stir for our department. You'd better give the hospital a satisfactory explanation for this."

...

When Melody stepped out of the office, she felt utterly lost.

She didn't expect to see Jeremy waiting for her right outside. He seemed to have come specifically for her.

She paused, suddenly too anxious to move forward. After all, Jeremy wouldn't have liked that she'd caused this much trouble.

But surprisingly, Jeremy approached her first. As he looked down at her with his dark eyes, he softly asked, "Did you get hurt?"

Melody froze. Her clear eyes trembled slightly with a glimmer of hope. But that faint hope quickly faded and was replaced by guilt.

She lowered her head as Jeremy drew nearer, looking like a child who had misbehaved. She whispered an apology, "I... I really didn't know why that happened. I'm sorry."

Jeremy didn't respond immediately. He simply looked at her, the darkness in his eyes too deep for Melody to decipher. After a long silence, he finally said, "If you know you're in the wrong, why don't you correct it?"

Melody raised her head in confusion, "What?"

Jeremy clarified in a cool voice, "You're a nurse. You shouldn't be a public figure. If you keep going like this, you'll only bring more trouble to the department, just like you did today."
