Jeremy's face darkened. "Seth?"
Melody hummed in response, not noticing the flicker of displeasure in Jeremy's eyes.
She then turned and headed back to her room with Echo, which seemed to understand that it was not well-liked by Jeremy. It simply stayed silent and quietly lay down at Melody's feet.
Melody looked down at Echo and smiled. She then picked up her phone and took a few pictures of it before sending them to her group chat.
Both Tiffany and Felicia showered Echo with praises. Meanwhile, only Jason asked if she needed a bag of dog food for it.
Tiffany suddenly sent her a private message.
"Melody, when you come to the hospital later, don't go through the East Gate. I just saw a lot of people there who looked a bit suspicious."
The heat online hadn't died down yet, and Melody's Twitter was still filled with insults.
She thanked Tiffany.
Tiffany sounded worried. "Hasn't Jeremy already gotten off work? Let him take you to the hospital. It'll be safer. Or I can come pick you up with Jason."
Melody softly laughed. "Don't worry so much. Have you forgotten there's the East Gate 2? Besides, I'll be wearing a hat and a mask when I go tonight. No one will recognize me." She didn't want Tiffany to worry, so she acted casual.
Tiffany sent a frustrated emoji. "Damn it, when I find out who's behind this nasty business, I'm going to tear them apart!"
Melody had a night shift later that evening. So, she played with Echo for a while and moved its things into her room before changing into her clothes to head out.
However, as soon as Melody opened the door, she saw Jeremy waiting in the living room. He held the car keys in his hand, and when he saw Melody, he indifferently said, "I'll take you to the hospital."
Melody froze for a moment.
He glanced down at his phone. "Krystal said she has a case-related question for me. I'm coming to take a look."
Melody blinked and took a moment to process what he had said. She stopped in her tracks and asked, "So, are you taking me to the hospital, or are you here to meet Krystal?"
It was no wonder he had offered her a ride.
It was no wonder when she had stepped out of her room, he was already in the living room with the car keys in hand.
Melody suddenly felt a bit frustrated.
So, Jeremy hadn't really planned to take her to the hospital. He had been intending to go meet Krystal, but she had just happened to leave her room.
What Melody had thought was an intentional act had just been Jeremy's afterthought.
