The scent lingered around Melody, gradually calming her restless mind. She blinked, unconsciously wanting to move closer to the familiar scent.
She couldn't deny that her feelings for Jeremy still lingered. Even this familiar smell on him was enough to make her feel at ease.
It wasn't until her elbow was nudged that she snapped out of her thoughts. Startled, she quickly glanced at Jeremy, only to meet his cold and distant gaze.
He simply lowered his eyes to look at her elbow for a moment and said nothing.
She quietly muttered, "Sorry."
Jeremy didn't reply. However, she soon realized just how close in distance they were.
The furniture around the table was fixed in place, but she and Jeremy were noticeably closer than the others were to each other.
When Melody had sat down earlier, she had been preoccupied with her own thoughts and hadn't noticed this.
Now, it made sense why she had smelled his faint scent so clearly.
She didn't think much of it, assuming that it was just that the maid hadn't properly adjusted the chairs when serving the food.
…
Andrew hadn't called Melody back just for a simple dinner. After the meal, he directly called her into the study, took out a contract, and handed her a check.
"This is from Mr. Grant from Celestial Group," he said. "He wants to offer you compensation. It amounts to one million. You can use it however you wish.
"Also, Celestial Group is planning a charity warehouse project and wants to genuinely contribute to charitable causes. This is also to make up for their past mistakes."
Andrew slowly continued, "Mr. Grant is willing to overlook past grievances. He said he's very open to your supervision and would like to hire you as the head of the charity warehouse project. He also wants to bring you into Celestial Group as the director of their charitable projects."
Melody looked at the contract and the check. Her expression was indifferent, but her mind was racing.
What Denvin had uncovered lined up perfectly with this moment. In fact, it was almost coincidental.
Denvin had also analyzed the situation and guessed that Sebastian might use the excuse of inviting her to help at Celestial Group to frame her for everything.
