A Whisper that went unheard novel Chapter 58

Jeremy looked at Melody. "You have ten minutes." He didn't want to stay in a place like this any longer than necessary.

Melody had always listened to him. So, she went back into the guesthouse, packed her things, and came out without asking where he was taking her.

At the worst, she could always come back later on. It wasn't like Jeremy driving her home happened often—maybe once or twice a year at most.

As Melody sat in the car, she thought about what Felicia had told her—after finishing her weekend part-time job, she should start looking for a rental.

Melody was so caught up in her thoughts that she didn't even notice that Jeremy had driven back to the apartment. It wasn't until they pulled into the underground parking lot that she realized it.

She looked at him in confusion. "Why are we here?"

Jeremy's face remained expressionless as he answered in a flat tone, "Where else would we go?"

It was just a simple question.

Melody hesitated before speaking, "Didn't you tell me to move out?"

Jeremy frowned slightly. "I just thought having you in my home for those few days made me physically uncomfortable."

Melody's palms clenched, and she heard herself ask, "And now?"

"The maid has already disinfected the place three times." Jeremy threw out that sentence and got out of the car.

Meanwhile, Melody sat in place, feeling dazed.

A few days later, Felicia found out that Jeremy had brought Melody back to the apartment.

After hearing the whole story, Felicia sighed. "Well, I guess it's fine. At least you're saving on rent. After all, rent in Jembina is crazy.

"I've been looking for a place for you, and if you want something decent and convenient for work, it's at least a thousand dollars a month. Even the cheapest ones are 50 dollars."

Melody pursed her lips. "The guesthouse I was staying at was only 30 dollars a night."

"30 dollars a night is 900 dollars a month. The cost of living here is high." Felicia advised, saying, "Just pretend Jeremy is air. Or think of it as compensation for how he treats you.

"At least you don't have to pay rent, utilities, or anything. Money saved is still money, right? Just take it as a win."

Melody thought about her income and savings. In a first-tier city like Jembina, it really wasn't much.

She hummed in agreement, acknowledging that Felicia had a point. She couldn't afford to waste money now.
