Betrayal At The Altar (Rachel and David) novel Chapter 246

Chapter 246 Suffer A Double Loss

[I have an appointment with a friend tonight. Let’s meet another day.] David frowned as he looked at the message on his phone.

The atmosphere around him suddenly darkened. The temperature in the entire meeting room seemed to have dropped to zero, and it was cold.

The executive standing on the stage in the middle of a presentation unconsciously thought he had made a mistake and began to stutter and repeat himself, even shaking uncontrollably.

At the end of the presentation, he took a deep breath as if he had survived a calamity, only to find the man sitting at the head of the table unmoved.

He could not help but look at Eddie. The pleading look in his eyes was hard to ignore.

Eddie sighed softly. Sure enough, it couldn’t be done without him.

“Sir?” he called cautiously.

David put away his phone and glanced at him.

A trace of coldness flashed across the man’s eyes, making Eddie shiver.

Eddie suppressed the panic in his heart and said calmly, “Sir, the presentation from the marketing department is over.”

“Okay,” David replied, “The meeting is over.”

Everyone secretly heaved a sigh of relief.

Back in the office, David called Rachel. “What time do you finish tonight? Shall I pick you up?”

“No need,” Rachel said.

She knew Mary’s personality very well. She would not stop until she was drunk tonight!

She didn’t know when it would be over.

“I have something to do later. I have to go.”

After hanging up, Rachel turned to look at the cafe.

Unsurprisingly, she saw the Smith family’s car in the parking lot.

A meaningful smile appeared at the corners of her mouth.

But who would have thought that in the end, the Smith family would suffer a double loss?

However, no matter how much they hated her, they could only grit their teeth and swallow it.

Louis, sitting in the car, had planned to get out with Mr. Smith, but he got an impromptu phone call from Chief Kandor.

“Chief Kandor, did you find out what I asked you to do?”

On the other end of the phone, Chief Kandor said, “Mr. Smith, I’ve asked around. The last name of the person in charge of investigating your company is Shain!

When Louis heard this, his eyebrows twitched fiercely. “Shain?”

Why was this suddenly related to the Shain family?

He calmed himself down and said, “Chief Kandor, I can assure you that I’ve never provoked anyone from the Shain family!”

Back then, on the day of Miss Shain’s wedding, he was kicked out of the house. In order not to cause unnecessary trouble, he did not show any displeasure. How could he offend the Shain family?

“Chief Kandor, is there some kind of misunderstanding?” Louis probed.
