Betrayal At The Altar (Rachel and David) novel Chapter 852

Chapter 852

Rachel Grey was the person David Jones cared about the most. He was devoted to her and would pursue the matter persistently If anything terrible happened to her.

Although David knew that Rachel was a capable woman, her ability to remain calm in the face of an out-of-control car while under threat made him see her in a new light.

Landon Walker dangled a cigarette at the corner of his mouth with his head lowered; no one could see his expression or read his thoughts.

When Jimmy Shain saw that Landon was in a daze, he picked up the wine glass before him and clinked it against Landon’s. “Yo, what are you thinking about, bro?’ he asked casually

Landon instantly came back to his senses. He glanced at Jimmy briefly and quickly scanned those present in the room. Then he pursed his lips and said calmly. “Nothing.”

“You’re lying.” Jimmy put down his wine glass and said knowingly. Unlike his usual devil-may-care self, he stared at Landon thoughtfully and said in a serious tone. “You must know something. No secrets between us, okay? You can tell me, there are

no outsiders here*

Landon pursed his lips and pondered for a long time before revealing his concern. “I got someone to check on the three Santanas involved tonight. My reliable source told me those people report to Hans Grey.”

He paused for a moment and added, “Hans Grey is Rachel’s father, by the way.”

Jimmy was visibly stunned.

He kept quiet for a while before exclaiming, “Fuck! This is fucking interesting!”

Wow, a father attacked his daughter!

There must be some deep-seated hatred between them.

Che Shannon from Elderville chuckled, his eyes filled with mockery. “Don’t you know Hans Grey is infamous in Pollister? He will do anything to achieve his goals, not to mention killing his daughter. Hans will not hesitate to send his daughter to a stranger’s bed if he likes her.”

Although Che’s remarks seemed harsh to some, they accurately illustrated Hans Grey’s greed and selfishness.

Jimmy clicked his tongue and said, “No wonder the Johnson family was disconnected from the Grey family all these years. No one in his right mind will go near a despicable person like Hans”

Just then, Rachel and David pushed the door open and entered.

Everyone in the private room looked up. Landon immediately signaled Jimmy to keep his mouth shut.

Jimmy instantly understood and did not utter another word.

He regained his composure and invited everyone to take their seats.

Everyone in the room started eating when the food was served and chatted away.

However, no one was in the mood for fun after learning about Rachel’s ordeal tonight, knowing she was probably still in shock. The atmosphere at dinner was not as relaxing as before.

“Please start without me. I’m going to the restroom.” Rachel stood up and left.

As soon as she walked out of the door, David threw aside his cutlery without a word, got up, and left as well.

Jimmy saw the two leaving the room one after another and could not help but speculate. “What’s going on? Did they quarrel?”

He thought the damsel in distress would always show her gratitude after being rescued by the hero in the movies.

However, Rachel and David clearly went off the script.

Meanwhile, Rachel headed straight to the restroom after she left the private room.

She saw David waiting patiently at the door when she came out.

She could not help but laugh aloud. However, David grabbed her arm before she could say anything and dragged her into

the elevator.

Then they went to the same room as yesterday.

Rachel glanced at David’s icy look; she pursed her lips, “Are you going to say something?”

She sensed that David was unhappy as he did not utter a word on the way back.

David kept quiet. Instead, he walked to the wine cabinets and opened a bottle of liquor. He poured a full glass and finished it

in one gulp.

Then he poured another and downed it as if he did not hear Rachel’s question.

Rachel’s brows furrowed as she walked to David and held his wrist. “Stop it. Drinking like this will hurt your stomach.”

Grenada rum was a hard liquor. Therefore, it was usually served in a mix, few drank it straight like David.

David looked at Rachel intently. He clenched his glass as if he was trying his best to control his unspoken emotions.

“Why didn’t you contact me when you were in danger?” he asked in a deep, hoarse, and bone-chilling voice as if he was being submerged in an ice pond.

Rachel stepped forward and lugged him. She rubbed her face against his chest softly and said, “I did call you, but there was a problem with the phone signal.*-

Then she paused briefly and said. I’m not hurt. You don’t have to be so jittery”

“Have you thought about the consequences? David said in a low and hoarse voice, slightly annoyed.

Fortunately, Rachel did not suffer any injury today. Otherwise, he would not let the Grey family off; they would have to answer to him for what happened.

Hans being Rachel’s father in name made no difference to David. He would be just as responsible.

Today’s accident would not have happened had Hans not been deluded into controlling Rachel, putting her in harm’s way. Everything happened because of Hans Grey. He should pay the price and bear the consequences,

Rachel tiptoed and kissed his chin gently. “The situation was urgent, and I couldn’t reach you. I couldn’t possibly drive into the city by myself. And I know my limits and won’t let myself get hurt. Look, I’m fine now. There’s nothing to worry about!” David gradually let go of his grudge. He put down the glass and hugged Rachel; he squeezed her tightly as if he wanted to consume her whole. “Promise me not to get hurt again, okay? Otherwise, my heart will break”
