Eric intertwined his hands with Annie's own and led her to his car.
He opened the front passenger's door for her, she got settled and he made his way to the driver's seat.
They were both quiet during the drive until Eric decided to start a conversation.
"I spoke to my family about you." He took a glance at her then turned his face back to the road.
"How did they take the news?" She asked nervously, hoping they don't see her as a gold digger.
He smiled at her. "Better than I imagined."
"Elaina was screaming for joy when I told her." He said and Annie smiled. She wasn't that close to Elaina in high school but she knew Eric's sister was a good person. Even though she came from a very rich home, she was very humble and treated everyone with respect.
There were times when she would humbly ask Annie to explain some things to her concerning their school work and there were times they were project partners and that made Annie know a little more about the Ivan- James family.
"Like I said she was very happy and she talked about how she couldn't wait to see you. She even asked if you'll be going for your class reunion but I told her I had no idea."
Annie remembered receiving an invitation concerning that but was not sure if she would show up.
"I' don't know if I'll be going for the reunion."
"Okay. Maybe I'll give you her number so you two can catch up."
"Yes, that will be fine." She agreed.
Eric was getting ready for bed the previous night when Elaina called him so he told her the good news. His immediate younger sister was so happy for him, she was also happy for Annie whom she had always admired for her creativity and she was excited because she was already a soon to be aunt.
"My parents are very excited too and they can't wait to meet you."
"Oh, okay." She swallowed painfully, not sure how to react.
"Annie, you don't have to worry about anything. My parents are the best set of people you can ever come across." He assured.
"They were hoping you will be free to see them this weekend."
Annie wanted to postpone like in five weeks or something but 'why postpone the inevitable?' She asked herself.
"This weekend is fine, probably on Saturday evening." She announced and he nodded as he pulled into the hospital's parking lot.
They walked into the hospital side by side, excited to go check on their little one.
From the reception, they were directed to the Doctor's office where they settled down and waited for the doctor.
Eric was excited; He couldn't wait to hear what the Doctor had to say about his little miracle. He knew it was going to take a while before they found out the gender but it was something he looked forward to.
He bought books from Paris; books on what he needed to know about babies which he had started reading.
Unlike Eric, the same couldn't be said about Annie. She was nervous as hell as she hoped and prayed the baby was okay. She will not be able to live with herself if anything happens to him or her.
Eric noticed she was nervous so he took her cold hands in his warm ones. "It will be fine." He assured.
She nodded and rested her head on his shoulder which made him untangle his hand from hers and wrap his arm around her waist instead. She felt better, she felt safer knowing Eric will be there for her.
They stayed like that for a few more minutes until the doctor showed up.
"Sorry I kept you waiting." The Female Doctor apologized with a smile. Her heart melted at the position she found them. She had no doubt the two were so much in love.
"We meet again." Annie smiled at Doctor Madeleine. The one who confirmed she was pregnant. For Doctor Myers to have recommended her, she must be very good at what she does.
She gave both Annie and Eric a handshake before taking a seat behind her desk. She took a file from her drawer, scribbled something on it and diverted her attention to the most adorable parents to be.
Eric knew Doctor Madeleine was about to ask Annie questions so he placed his hand on hers, as a sense of assurance that everything was going to be fine and he'll always be there for her.
"How are you, Annie?" She asked.
She replied, "Fine I guess."
"Morning Sickness?" The doctor asked.
