Chapter 65
Dungela Cobb, president of the National Crochet Union, felt uneasy as he glanced at the lavish gifts delivered by Simon.
“In that case, I’m relieved. Thank you, Mr. Cobb, Edward replied
“You’re too kind,” Dangelo replied politely.
After hanging up the phone, he frowned and called for his secretary “Bet these gifts to Refined Threads Co. just as they arrived. Also, inform them they’re disqualified from participating in the year–end tournament.”
Refined Threads Co.’s disqualification was due to Janke publicly exposing their misconduct during the last tournament. They had submitted a crochet design that was not designed by their crochet team. There were no production videos or contractual proot, so suspicions of cheating were raised.
Just after Edward entered his office, Calvin appeared. “Come with me tonight to pick someone up,” Calvin suggested.
Edward didn’t bother to look up
“Heidi’s back from advanced studies abroad. She switched her career from antique restoration to crocheting just for you. Her flight lands at 7:40 pm, and you should come along.” Calvin teased.
His true intention in bringing up Heidi’s retum was to gauge whether Edward’s supposed interest in Janice was real or just a fake excuse.
“What? Rejected?”
Samon hurriedly called Dangelo. “Mr. Cobb, we agreed that Defined Threads Co. would participate in the Winter Tournament.‘
“As per the rules, companies caught cheating are barred from competing for acertain period. I’m afraid my hands are tied. Perhaps you should explore other avenues.”
“Mr Cobb, I don’t want to make things difficult for you either. Could you at least tell me who’s behind this? Someone must’ve given the order for Dengelo to change his mind at the last minute.
angelo hesitated and was unwilling to disclose Edward’s name. He subtly hinted, “Could you have offended anyone recently? On another note, Refined Threads Co.’s seamstresses con enter as individuals.”
With that, he hung up
Simon’s mind reced. Who could he have offended?
Almost instantly, be thought of Janice. It had to be her. She must’ve leveraged her connection with Proper Stitch Group to pressure Dangela into retuming the gits.
-Janice is heading to the airport tonight, right? Block her!” Simon issued a command in rage.
A17:40 pm that night, Janice picked Shirley up.
“Janice!” From a distance, Shirley waved enthusiastically as she skipped toward Janice and wrapped her in a tight hug
“Janice, you’ve gotten prettier!”
“No, you’re prettier. Let’s go,” Janice replied with a chuckle.
As they walked away, Shirly suddenly spotted someone. “Janice, Isn’t that your boss?”
Janior glanced in the direction she pointed at and saw a young lady clinging happily to Edward’s arm while chattering away. Calvin nuffled the lady’s hair with a doting smile and teased, “You’ll never grow out of your chatter, do you?”
Janice quickly looked away. “You’re mistaker. Let’s go.”
They were just employer and employee, and their couple act was fake. Edward’s private matters had nothing to do with her.
They got into car and drove off.
Heidi Ityan looked in the direction of the disappearing car and asked, “Edward, isn’t that your lan?” Even the license plate was identical.
