Chapter 96
Not only was Heidi stunned, but even Mark and Lacas were momentarily speechless when Edward mentioned he was the one pursuing Janice.
Janice’s heart raced. She realized that Edward was protecting her, and this feeling of having someone backing her up made her chest tingle with warmth.
Disbelief was written all over Heidi’s face as she stammered, “Edward, you…”
Though Edward wasn’tstanding directly next to Janice, his presence seemed to blir in Hell’s confused thoughts, giving her the illusion that he was standing as Janice’s support.
“We aren’t that close. Let’s change how we address each other.”
With those words, Edward publicly cut oft any perceived connection between himself and Hedi
Tears streamed down Heidi’s cheeks. In a panic, she blurted out, “Edward, you’ve been deceivedl She’s not Ms. Olson’s student!”
The people present were all from elite social circles, and they knew just how prestigious it was to be a student of Shirley Olsen.
Etward exhaled a cloud of smoke and slowly raised his gaze. “Oh? is that so?
Heidi nodded “Yes! Ms. Olson doesn’t have any students!”
Mark raised an eyebrow.“How do you know?
Heidi didn’t want Janice to get the upper hand. She couldn’t stand it.
Heidi shot back. “That’s because I am Shirley Olson!”
The room fell silent
“I didn’t let her represent your company in the competition because a woman like her, who resorts to fraud, could never present genuine work, I was just concemed about you, Edward Heidi said confidently
She wasn’t worried about Shirley finding out. All that mattered was making sure Edward saw Janice’s true colors. She wanted Edward’s friends to reject Janice too. Mark it a cigarette, suddenly feeling that the cold outside wasn’t so bad anymore.
The situation sermed less complicated than it initially appeared. It appeared that Heidi simply had a personal dislike for Janice and had been trying to make things difficult for her. A soft laugh echoed through the cold, snowy night
“Jenice,” Edward called her name.
As Janice tumed around, Edward extended his hand, softly saying, “Let’s go home,
Those words shamered Heidi’s fiery attitude from a moment ago.
She wondered if Edward had heard what she said. She had told him she was Shirley Olson. She had assumed that Edward’s interest in Janice was because he believed she was one of Ms. Olson’s students.
Since she claimed to be Shirley, shouldn’t he have been comforting ber instead?
Janice didn’t respond to Head’s disbelief. She simply took Edward’s hand and followed him to the car.
Before they drove off, Edward turned briefly to Mark and Lucas. “Go home early?
