“I’ve studied this project thoroughly,” he announced. “Its prospects are impressive. I wonder if Mr. Harlow would be open to letting me in on a share?” 

Claude replied smoothly, “It’s a modest venture, but I’d be honored if it’s managed to catch your eye, Mr. Wright.” 

Dylan’s lips curved into a faint smile. “Then I take it that’s a yes?” 

This unexpected disruption annoyed Suzy. Dylan’s flashy behavior, coupled with the brief exchange of looks between him and Brandon, set her on edge. It had only been a fleeting glance, but Suzy’s sharp eyes had caught the hint of something unusual. 

“Claude, I need to step out for a moment,” she said, signaling with her eyes for him to delay as much as possible. 

He nodded. “Go ahead.” 

Excusing herself under the pretense of going to the restroom, Suzy slipped to a quiet corner to call Allen. “What’s the deal between Dylan and Brandon?” 

“Not much,” Allen replied, “though Brandon does have a connection with Desmond. Haven’t I mentioned it? They are cousins. When he joined Lyndon Corporation, Dylan

Suzy looked at them both. “So, Desmond is just Brandon’s cousin? Nothing else?” 

“You think Dylan arranged for him to join Lyndon Corporation?” Allen asked. “I’ve considered it, but the investigation shows Brandon insisted on joining Lyndon Corporation himself. Even when Dylan tried to keep him at Wright Corporation, Brandon flat–out refused.” 

“He insisted on joining the Lyndon Corporation?”

“Any particular reason?” 

“We’re still looking into it.” 

Allen was usually quick with results, so the delay suggested that Brandon wasn’t simple. But that wasn’t the main issue at hand. “Whatever Dylan’s intentions are, we can’t let him succeed.”
