Chapter 130
Kaia's POV
“Let me get this straight," I began, my eyes darting to Dylan on the bed and back to the siblings, who just told me what has to be the most insane tale I've heard in all of my existence and as weird as it sounded, the proof was right in front of me.
“I have the ability to form a shield if I'm in danger?" I asked, and the siblings nodded.
“It was so cool…shocking and confusing at first, but you kinda get used to it.” Allie said, smiling widely.
I turned to Kieran because for someone who was thrown against the wall just the previous day, she was sounding way too cheerful for my confused self, who was trying to make sense of everything they told me.
Apparently, seeing Dylan get hurt somehow triggered my protective side which caused me to release the shield. And it wasn't just any shield, as the moment it came upon them, it began to heal them as well, which was one of reasons Dylan was alive.
"Do you think the moon goddess is using me as an experiment to see what she can do?” I asked, and Kieran let out a soft chuckle.
I'd admit that the whole shield thing was cool but I wanted to be present when all of these things were happening to me.
"And the secret is out of the bag." Allie said and Kieran turned to glare at her. She pretended to zip her mouth before standing up. “I'm going to go tell the others that you're awake. They were quite worried." She said, as she left the room.
I met Kieran's gaze, waiting for him to explain what she meant. He opened his arms and I immediately went closer to him as he wrapped them around me.
“Is this your way of preparing me for what is coming?”
He smiled softly, kissing my forehead. "Allie is being dramatic.”
"I'm glad you agree with me. But you have to tell me what she was talking about.” I said, my brows furrowing as another thought hit me. "Did I do something again?”
He nodded before telling me how after making sure Dylan was okay, I went ahead to heal some of the warriors outside the door that had been brutally wounded during the attack and they didn't keep quiet about it. He said he was certain most of the Pack members would've heard of it before the day was over. And it made sense why I was excessively tired.
Once he was done, I felt panic begin to rise inside of me. “Is our pup okay?" I asked. “Why can't I remember doing all of this? I put our child in danger again." I said as a wave of guilt hit me. "What if after giving birth, he or she hates me?”
Kieran caressed my arms softly, “hey." He began, his voice almost as light as a feather. “Lylah took over, I'm sure she knew exactly what she was doing.” He assured me. “And our pup is perfect."
I nodded, believing him. “What about him? Were you able to catch him?"
He shook his head, “unfortunately. I couldn't think about anything else at that moment." There was a frustration in his voice as he spoke.
“It's okay, baby. I'm sure we'll get him."
No words needed to be spoken, as we both sat in silence, different thoughts running through our heads. I kept thinking about what the next ability Lylah would suddenly discover and why she wasn't filling me in on everything…if this was the reason she didn't respond to me.
“I was so scared." Kieran admitted, his voice was barely audible but I heard him…clearly. “in that moment when I was far away from you and couldn't do anything, I felt like I'd failed you and was going to lose you…fuck Bella…”
"You're not going to lose me…not now, not ever."
His lips came crashing on mine and I didn't hesitate to respond. The kiss felt like he was trying to assure himself that I was still here, and wasn't going anywhere.
