Chapter 131
Kaia's POV
Kieran shifted uncomfortably as she came closer and with each step that she took, I tried to make myself smaller into the chair but that did nothing to ease the dread I felt just looking at the woman who singularly made my life miserable.
Lylah was also pacing around in my head. “Why would Kieran bring her here?" She asked me.
The look on the guys face told me they knew about her being here. I felt Kieran reach for my hand but I pulled it away, betrayed that knowing fully well what she did to me, he still let her into the Pack.
“It’s not what you think, Bella.” He said through our mindlink.
I snorted, standing up. “You have an explanation for why this woman is here? Beautiful!” I exclaimed and without waiting for whatever his explanation was going to be, I stormed out of the room.
"Bella–" But I was already gone, storming past Katherine, Dylan's mom as I went. Kieran's footsteps were behind me.
“Come on Bella, listen to me.” He called, as he grabbed my hand, turning me to face him.
Snatching my hand away, I shot him another glare. “No, you listen to me.” I said, raising my voice. "You let that woman into this pack knowing very well what she did to me.” I paused, taking a deep breath. "Are you trying to become a hero by helping us bury the hatchet and becoming a ‘family’ now?” I asked him, air quoting the word family.
A look of disbelief crossed his face, "Of course not, Bella. Why would you think so?”
"I don't know…maybe because I fucking told you not to bring her here."
“Too far." Lylah said and I sighed. My emotions were all over the place and the shocked look on his face told me Lylah was right, I'd gone too far.
“I'm sorry," I apologized. “Can I be alone right now?" I didn't wait for his response before I continued to Allie's room, where we were currently using definitely because our room was damaged and there wasn't enough time to prepare another room.
Slamming the door, I rested my back against the door and wrapped my arms around my legs. Tears streamed down my eyes as I thought about the image of my mom swinging from the rope in the living room after hanging herself and then Katherine and my Dad announcing their mating not long after.
“Bella, open the door, please.” Kieran's voice came from outside.
I ignored him but he continued. "I was going to tell you. I didn't plan to bring her here, I promise, but there was no way I was going to leave you behind and go back to that Pack just to talk to her.” He explained.
"You had enough time to tell me." I said, instead of what I originally had in mind to say.
“Just open the door please." He begged. “I'd explain everything."
Lylah convinced me to, so I opened the door and the fear in his eyes sent a pang of guilt through me. But the fear was quickly replaced by a relieved look.
He explained how she had knowledge about my powers even before I developed them and that since he wasn't able to meet the witch as he had to rush back, he wanted her to get the witch here so we could get to the end of everything…at least a part of it.
His hand cupped my face gently, “I'm sorry for springing it on you, Bella.” He apologized, using his thumb to wipe away my tears.
“But it's really important you hear what she has to say. And I'm going to be with you every second, she can't hurt you anymore. Just let me know when it gets too much…you don't have to be there.” He finished.
I looked at his eyes and he nodded assuringly. Against my better judgement, I let him lead me back to Dylan's room where everyone was still waiting.
Taking the seat farthest from Katherine and Kieran's hand in mine, I waited for her to start talking.
“I'm sorry Kaia…” She started.
"Just get to it.” I snapped through gritted teeth before I could stop myself.
“Lisa isn't your mom."
