His grip tightened, and Maja suddenly felt as if all the oxygen had been sucked out of the room. She couldn’t utter a single word, and a layer of sweat formed on her forehead. 

lan couldn’t stand her. He was so repulsed that he didn’t even want to figure out why her face had changed so drastically. She now had thick bangs and glasses, and even her clothes had become incredibly ordinary. 

He chalked up all her actions that he couldn’t understand to her intentionally putting on a show. 

“Having fun?” 

His veins were bulging on his wrist, clearly exerting a lot of force. 

Maja felt like she might actually die at any moment as he choked her. 

She looked at lan’s beautiful hands. 

Just a few days ago, these beautiful hands were around her waist, and these lips were whispering sweet things to her. 

She was beating at his hand, feeling as if she was about to suffocate. 

“Maja, I heard Neil is sick. If you don’t want anything bad to happen to him, you’d better behave from now on. I hate it when people put on a show.”

As for Carlene, she was a wreck.

Feeling utterly humiliated, Carlene clung onto lan’s arm, crying.

Carlene was still crying. 

“lan, she was way out of line; she actually called me a homewrecker.” 

Ryan listened, thinking to himself that she was indeed a homewrecker, so why was she crying about it? 

Maja might not be good–looking and seem plain, but she always managed to hold her head high. And there was something about her aura that was quite influential. Ryan always felt Maja and lan were similar in some ways. 

“lan, maybe you should consider taking over the Pennyfeather family’s company. Let’s see how she can still be so arrogant.” 

Carlene spat out these words in anger, feeling incredibly embarrassed. 

And it was at an event hosted by the Shepard family, no less. The Shepards would surely question her later on whether she was still on bad terms with lan; otherwise, why would someone else’s wife be so brazen?
