"Excuse me?" she screams.
He pales. "I'm sorry. Please don't tell Coach Kenet I said that."
I try to sit up while they argue back and forth.
Axel gently holds me still. "Don't move. I don't want you to pass out again."
"I'm fine," I try to say. I don't know how much of it comes out coherently. He doesn't budge, so I shoulder him off. I don't want him on me right now. I just want to get up. "Let go."
"Okay, I won't touch you." He moves his hands away. "Just don't move. Please."
I stay still long enough for him to let me go, then I start getting up.
"Mia," he says shocked, betrayed.
"Forget it. I'll do it myself." Aiden walks over to where I can't see him.
"Since when do we call an ambulance when people pass out for two seconds?" Carson asks.
I can just feel the look Aiden gives him. "She's got an existing heart condition. You're just waiting for her to die."
"It's only been a few minutes. People don't die that quickly." Carson pauses. "... Right?"
"I guess we'll find out," Aiden says.
There's silence for a while.
"Oh my god, why isn't someone calling an ambulance?" Carson screams.
I'd slap my forehead if I had the energy. I just swat Axel's hands away and sit up. "No ambulance."
The nurse and Carson, who are currently fighting over the phone, look up. "What?"
"No. Ambulance." I feel like I'm gonna fall back or face first, but I try to stay up. I try to look better. "Don't call my parents."
They look at each other, then back at me. Then they look at the phone.
Aiden's eyes connect with mine. He does a once over and then says without any hesitation, "Don't listen to her. She's incapacitated."
"I'm wide awake," I say, feeling lightheaded.
"You're a minor incapable of making your own medical decisions, especially in your current state." He narrows his eyes at me before turning to everyone else. "Unless we want a lawsuit, we need to tell her parents. They'll find out."
