Ditched Cheating Alpha, I Led My Daughter to Life's Peak novel Chapter 125

She checks my vitals and then listens to my breathing for awhile. After that, she decides to test my balance.

She helps me out of the bed, gently, slowly. The brothers watch her like a hawk. When I'm finally on my feet, she tells me to walk towards her, then back. "Does one of you want to stand on the other side?" she asks the brothers.

Carson shoots up.

Axel gets in the way though. "I'll do it." He walks to the point the nurse is gesturing to.

Carson stands in his way. "I was first."

Axel sighs, very loudly. His eyes say it all before his mouth gets the chance to. "Please just sit down, Carson."

"What's that supposed to mean?" Carson asks.

Aiden answers for him. "I think what he's trying to say is, you've done enough."

Carson's eyes widen. He looks between his brothers. "You think this is my fault?"

Axel doesn't say anything. Aiden nods without hesitation.

"Dear God, what have I done?" the nurse whispers. She ushers me to just start the exercise, walking towards the wall as the disaster unfolds.

I see a million things cross Carson's mind before he bawls his hands into fists. His brothers take a step back, but then his face falls. He looks at me for half a second before he looks at the ground. "You can't seriously think..." He looks at them and he doesn't get the confirmation he's looking for. He looks back down. "I would never hurt you, Mia. You know that, right?"

I don't get a chance to answer before Aiden does. "You already did when you nearly gave her a heart attack. You're completely out of control."

Axel scoffs.

Aiden looks at him slowly. "I'm sorry. Is there something you'd like to add?"

Axel looks up, shaking his head nonchalantly. "Oh no. This is just rich coming from you."

"Meaning?" Aiden asks, tight-jawed.

"You almost gave her an asthma attack with what you did." Axel narrows his eyes. "That instant replay felt more like a full length movie. Did you even give her a chance to breathe?"

Oh my god.

"Well, she's walking fine." The nurse helps me back into bed as the brothers stare each other down. She hands me a water bottle and a pack of crackers. "I'll make myself scarce." She gives me a worried look before running away. "Good luck. Try to settle this before the pack suffers."

Don't leave me.

I look between the brothers who are resorting to all kinds of name calling and foolish behavior. It's honestly giving me a headache. I rub my temples. Maybe that'll work. "Could you guys do it in mindlink? My head hurts."

They all look at me, as if just remembering I'm there in the first place. Axel sits down in the chair to the right of me and nods. "Of course. I'm sorry, Mia."
