"Okay." He puts his hands up. He looks at all of them. "So you never plan on picking just one?"
I sigh. "For the last time, no, Michael."
"Is that normal for wolves?" he asks. "To have multiple imprints or mates?"
I look at the brothers.
Axel shakes his head. "It's not normal to have three alphas either, but here we are." He smiles. He's not defensive at all. He just answers the question plain and simple.
Michael on the other hand answers in the shadiest way. He looks at all of them with narrowed eyes. "And is she the only girl you guys share, or...?"
"We're not sharing, Mia," Carson says firmly. "She's not a pack of ritz. She's a person." He looks at me when he says this part. "And she's the only person we want to be with, forever."
"Even if that forever isn't that long?" Michael asks.
My heart drops. Carson's face falls. Axel's stares at me with that look in his eyes. Now wasn't the time for a truth bomb Michael.
He looks at my face and sighs. "I'm not saying you're gonna die soon. I'm just saying that you could get better or you could get worse. We don't know. They deserve the option of being prepared for that. You don't need to get involved with people who are gonna leave."
"There's no leaving when it comes to werewolves," Aiden says firmly. "The imprint bond demands forever... We're prepared for however long that forever may be. There's no other option."
Silence takes over the space. A painful silence. A scary silence. I stare at Aiden from across the table, but he's still not looking at me. His focus is Michael right now.
Michael seems to be thinking for a while. I'm hoping he'll say he's done and he just supports this and he'll keep is mouth shut but what are the chances of that? None.
He looks at me then at the brothers. He raises an eyebrow. "So... what's imprinting like?"
There's a pause. The brothers look at each other. "Imprinting?"
Michael nods. It seems like a lighthearted question enough. He isn't glaring anymore. He just looks curious. "Is it like Jacob said in Twilight? Gravity holding and..." He waves his hands. "You know."
Carson stops glaring for the first time in a while. He looks between Michael and me, then he shrugs. "He was right for the most part, it's just... it's like those words are so melodramatic." He leans forwards. "Gravity and becoming anything. Who says that kind of stuff?" he chuckles. Then his eyes connect with mine. "It sounds stupid until you find her. Then it's like..." He looks for words.
"It all makes sense suddenly," Axel finishes for him, smiling at me.
I smile back at both of them. Michael gives me a disgusted look. I roll my eyes.
"No," Aiden says.
Oh here we go. I brace myself for what he's about to say.
"Jacob's description doesn't do it justice," he finishes.
I look up, surprised. This can either go really good or really bad, and I have no idea which is going to happen.
