Ditched Cheating Alpha, I Led My Daughter to Life's Peak novel Chapter 183

"You're late," is the first thing Onai says to the wolf.

It's probably the same size as his wolf form, if not a little smaller, but dang, it's still huge. It nods before dropping the clothes it was carrying in its mouth. When it shifts, I see something I haven't seen since the bathroom incident. "So I know I'm a little late." Ethel laughs while pulling his clothes on. "But I was dealing with the allies so..." His eyes land on me and his pale face turns into a ripe tomato. He runs behind Onai who's still facing my direction.

I looked away as soon as I realized what I was seeing, but I still feel the need to say, "Sorry, Ethel."

"It's fine, Luna," he chokes out before whispering to Onai, "What is she doing here?"

Okay I know I don't have werewolf hearing but...

Once all of his clothes are on, he steps out from behind Onai and looks between the two of us. "Uh, dude? I... I asked what she was doing here?"

Onai doesn't say anything. Neither do I. I don't know what to say. A jog? A Walmart trip? Getting some fresh air? Yeah, that'll work. When I turn to Ethel to say as much, I flinch.

He's staring at us both wide-eyed. "... Oh no," he whispers.

"It's not like that," Onai says without any emotion whatsoever.

Ethel puts a hand over his mouth. "Oh no."

I shake my head wildly, putting one and two together. "It's not like that, Ethel. Look at my terrible outfit. We were just-"

Ethel can't bare to look at us. I think I see his life flash before his eyes. "Why did I have to be the one to catch you guys in the act?" He gives Onai a disgusted look. "You should be ashamed of yourself!"

This can't go on much longer. I take a deep breath and walk towards him. "Listen. I can explain everything. I was going to go for a walk and then Onai was like, it's not safe, and so..."

He doesn't listen to a word I say. "Now, if I don't tell them what I saw, and they find out that I knew." He swallows the lump growing in his throat. "They'll find out that I didn't tell and I'll be as guilty as you two," he screams. "You can't do this to me. I've done my job. I've been loyal. I didn't have an affair." He glares at Onai, but then it turns into a look of desperation. He hangs off of Onai's jacket, staring into his eyes. "You can't drag me into this, man. I'm innocent. You've gotta confess to spare me at least."

Onai shoves Ethel's hands off of him. Then he pulls Ethel closer and puts his hand over his mouth. "Listen to me, Ethel..." His brown eyes glower down at the green orbs staring back at him. "Are you listening to me?" he asks.

Ethel nods with wide-eyes.
