Ditched Cheating Alpha, I Led My Daughter to Life's Peak novel Chapter 216

The guys nod. I look back, expecting to see Luca, but he's off sniffing the bushes. My jaw drops. The person she's been looking at isn't Luca. It's... Ethel.

What does she think she's doing? He's twice her age!

"What's wrong?" Axel asks.

I shake my head. "Nothing." Nothing because, despite Megan's obvious infatuation, Ethel doesn't seem to notice her at all in that way. Thank god. If he had imprinted on her, I would've killed him myself. There'll be no Renesmee's in this home.

"Who's there, Megan?" Michael calls from upstairs.

"Mia and guests," she says happily, leading the way to the kitchen.

"Do I need to come down?" he asks. "Is someone bleeding to death?"

Onai gives a flat look. I try not to laugh.

"No," she says. "Stay where you are."

I text him that he does need to come down and bring the spray bottle because his sister's thirsty as hell.

Michael: You???

If only.

I make eye contact with Axel. He points upstairs. "Should I just go fix it now?"

"Get a drink first," I say. "At least."

He reluctantly agrees. We don't say anything else. We just follow the rest of the group to the kitchen.

Ethel's completely unaware of Megan's enraptured gaze smoldering him all the way to the kitchen table. She pulls the kool-aid and lemonade pitchers out from the fridge, along with exactly two cups from the rack.

"Help yourselves, guys," I tell the rest of the group, pointing to the cups and the pitchers, but Megan's not done with me.

She hands me the two cups she got. "Be a dear, Mia, and..." She turns to Ethel. "I'm sorry, what did you say you wanted?"

I cock my head back. What do I look like, the help?

He looks at her, surprised. "Oh, no. No, you don't have to do that. I've got it." He takes the cups. "What would you guys like?" He smiles at me.

She puts a hand over her heart, gasping. "You don't have to do that for us." She bats her eyes rapidly, fluffing her hair out again. "You're the guest after all." she's so extra.

I give her the driest look ever.

He waves her off. "It's fine. Is kool-aid alright with you?"

She nods, lovingly. I can hear her thoughts from here. What a gentleman.

He looks at me, but I wave him off. "I just had orange juice. Thanks though."
